Boulder’s Sentimental Favorite – Dinner at Brasserie Ten Ten

June 9th, 2023

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Brasserie Ten Ten and I must say, it was a fun time. The restaurant went through Covid-19 closures and came back last summer.  I had been there one other time this year, but it felt like old times going back to the bar for happy hour. We were surprised and happy to find that we could get into the bar without a wait. We sat at the little round tops, still complemented but the beautiful bouquet in that room. We were served by the super-friendly bartender. We were unfamiliar with the Sauvignon Blanc options, so the waiter brought us a tasting. He didn’t want... Read More

Coffee Matters: Agriculture of the Bean

June 3rd, 2023

As I’ve previously mentioned, coffee “beans” (seeds or pits) grow in moderate climates across the world on what’s referred to as the coffee belt. Coffee trees, which are actually more like tall bushes, are pruned short though they can grow to be over 25 feet tall. They are covered with waxy dark green leaves and blossoming fruit—of green, red, and yellow color—known as cherries, which grow along its branches. The beans or seeds are picked from inside the fruit once it’s ripened. While there are many different species of coffee plants, the two species that are commercially cultivated... Read More

Getting Set for BolderBoulder

May 20th, 2023

There’s a reason that every year, over 50,000 people flock to Boulder, Colorado to run 6.2 miles. It might have something to do with the fact that Boulder is an awesome city or maybe some folks enjoy a bit of fitness every once in a while… But mostly I think it’s because they know that the BolderBoulder 10k is the most fun you’ll have while running all year long! To some of you reading, 6.2 sounds like a daunting number. Others might find the prospect of running non-stop uphills and around bends totally boring; but trust me–it’s not as intimidating as it sounds and it’s... Read More

The Best Sandwich Shop in Boulder

January 28th, 2023

Snarf: eat or drink quickly or greedily What does an obscure name, wacky logo, and bright pinks and blues bring to mind? Snarf’s, of course! The sandwich shop based out of Boulder, Colorado has made a name for itself and spread to locations across the country because of its high quality ingredients and fresh baked bread. The high points of any trip have to be their made-in-house spicy pepper blend (which you can buy jarred–something I only recently learned that has changed my life) and their crispy-on-the-outside chewy-on-the-inside bread. The bread is sourced from Bluepoint Bakery,... Read More

Farmer’s Market Recipe: Rustic Cordon Bleu

September 3rd, 2022

Summertime in Boulder is one of my favorite things! It rains enough that the whole city turns green with lush trees and grass and wildflowers. With the warmer months comes the Boulder County Farmer’s Market. As a kid, I spent Saturday mornings with my mom at the local Farmer’s picking out flowers and honey sticks. I feel that nostalgia every time I’m there which is why I’ve become so adamant about going to ours every Saturday morning. It’s a great place to pick up brunch and enjoy it on the grass after meandering through the stalls. Lately, I’ve been obsessed... Read More

September 2nd, 2022

Labor Day weekend is upon us, so send summer off into the sunset with the most amazing Spicy, Sticky Chicken! And don’t worry! It won’t be long until grilling season is back to greet us next year! I love summer. Mostly because it means I’m allowed to lounge in a bathing suit all day, but also because I love summer time food! Grilling is my number one cooking method during warm months: Peaches, cherries, corn on the cob, hot dogs, pineapple, stuffed burgers… you get the point. My favorite thing to grill, you ask? Why chicken, of course! There’s no better way to enjoy chicken then... Read More

Meet Rose! “I moved out to Boulder last August. I was born and raised in Florida, but will never go back. The first day I was out here already felt like home. I was walking around one day and walked into Brooklyn Pizza. They hired me immediately. It’s fun to work here – you meet a lot of characters!”  Read More

February 15th, 2022

“Bobo’s Oat Bars are very moist and delicious. When people hear that they are gluten free and vegan that do not expect to have such a tasty product. Most granola bars are crunchy, but not Bobo’s!” Organic, non-GMO, vegan, gluten-free, and fit for athletes… ok Boulder people this one is definitely for you. This week’s budding Boulder business is Bobo’s Oat Bars. Actually Bobo’s is not so “budding” because they are currently ranked No. 2 in the United States behind Kind Bar, and are sold across the country, even into the far-off other country up north (Canada…). Always Tip the Barista

January 1st, 2022

There’s a common misconception that tipping is a generous act and that 10% of the bill should suffice. Unfortunately, we don’t live in an economy that justifies that train of thought or math. As the battle for restaurant workers to earn a living wage continues, it’s crucial for American consumers to remember to tip food servers—and tip them well—every time they dine out or order in (you should tip delivery people too). Food service employees depend on tips for their livelihood and customers who think tipping is optional are either totally oblivious or just cheap. In some states,... Read More
