The Ironman is Here

August 1st, 2015

Boulder is best known for beautiful scenery, amazingly close access for everything outdoors, and of course, an extremely health conscious population. Part of the reason people flock to Boulder is for the health minded, adventurous live style. To add to the ambiance of Boulder, this Sunday, August 2nd, Boulder will be hosting the Ironman 70.3. The race consists of three parts, beginning with a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride, and finishing with a marathon (26.2 mile) run. For the Boulder Ironman, the swimming portion will take place in the Boulder Reservoir located in far North Boulder. Athletes... Read More

10 Things Triathletes Do That Piss Cyclists Off.

October 20th, 2014

Part of being a triathlete is being a cyclist, and part of being a cyclist is making fun of triathletes. This strange relationship is one that I have gotten to carefully observe over the years. Many of my friends are strictly cyclists, and many are strictly triathletes. The only thing they have in common is that they ride bikes. Triathletes try to be the master of three sports, and I get it, that is annoying. We are like that girl you went to high school with who was the president of the student government, captain of the basketball team, and voted homecoming queen. Here is a list of 10 things... Read More

“Oh you do triathlon, have you done the one in Hawaii?”

October 7th, 2014

I am well aware that most people don’t really know what triathlon is. I would say 80% of people only know that it has something to do with biking, swimming, and running. Out of these people maybe half know that there is a race in Hawaii and that it is really hard. Because of this it should be no surprise for a triathlete when talking to someone and they say something like “Oh you do triathlon, have you done the one in Hawaii?”. Personally I enjoy explaining that not all triathlons are Ironman distance, and that there are lots of races that aren’t in Kona, Hawaii. For all of you reading... Read More

Introducing Boulderthropic – an investigation into generosity

June 10th, 2014

Hello Boulder! I am so excited to become a part of the team at About Boulder™. After meeting with founder of our company, it was obvious that we shared a passion for encouraging people to give back to their communities. Towards that end I have joined the team as the Director of Giving. My first task is the creation of this blog, which I am calling: Boulderthropic. In this column I will set out to discover how local individuals, groups, companies and organizations are contributing to the wellbeing their fellow citizens, restoring the environment, contributing to the mind trust, and encouraging... Read More
