FLASHBACK: A Side of History With Your Sink Burger

August 28th, 2020

If there is one restaurant that should be written about in AboutBoulder.com, it should be The Sink, and mainly because of its sheer celebrity in the Boulder community. Located on The Hill, it’s been a Boulder staple for over 90 years. It’s changed names a and owners a handful of times but in 1989 returned (permanently) to it’s roots. Known for its beatnik murals and colorful decor, The Sink was home to Buffs like Robert Redford (legend has it he slept in one of the booths after working his janitor shifts), and being the hub for the hippie culture in the 70s.  You probably already know that... Read More

Top 3 Fun Hangs in Boulder

July 30th, 2019

1. Half Fast Subs  I LOVE Half Fast Subs! It’s got great prices on drinks and subs, and the dive atmosphere is my favorite. Located on Boulder’s ever-changing ‘The Hill’ district, the atmosphere has some old0-school charm. It’s a no-frills, low key establishment that feels very comfortable to hang out at. Kick back on the patio, drink a pitcher of Long Island Iced Tea—dubbed the ‘Strongo’—and laugh with friends. You can’t beat it.  2. The Spot  The Spot is a cool hidden gem that has a fine duality; you can climb and drink a beer. The Spot was the first bouldering gym to... Read More

April 5th, 2017

Lindsay’s Boulder Deli at Haagen Dazs on Pearl street has a rich history of feeding the Boulder community. Lindsay Shaw, the deli’s owner and namesake, has devoted her whole life to satisfying customers, serving ice cream at her father’s shop in Atlanta, Georgia, since “before she could see over the counter.” Now, Shaw makes a point to be visible at her deli, taking orders at the counter, preparing sandwiches, and stopping by chat with tables. Her devotion to customer care is legendary, and is something she’s written into her company culture. As a rule, customers are greeted warmly... Read More

Faces of Boulder – Pic of the Day!

January 18th, 2016

Mountain Sun is a fun, laid back restaurant known for its craft beers, amazing service and tasty pub grub. Two aspects of the restaurant that I notice the most are the friendly atmosphere and the happy people working there. Jud moved to Boulder from Oklahoma after attending college near his hometown. When he moved, he originally started working in arboriculture, the study of tree cultivation and management. After an unfortunate snowboarding accident, Jud broke his leg and could no longer handle the physical demands of his job. That’s when he stumbled upon his current job at Mountain Sun. “I... Read More
