Fantasy Football’s All-Madden(ing) Team

September 20th, 2022

The All-Madden Team was named after former Oakland Raider coach, and sportscaster great, John Madden. It celebrated the attributes that Madden looked for in his players. Toughness, grit, and determination. The All-Maddening Team is completely different. The name – purely coincidence. The All-Maddening Team is a regretful look at the players you drafted in your fantasy league and the maddening decisions that were made. More mistakes than Nathaniel Hackett. More misses than Rodrigo Blankenship. More bad picks than Joe Burrow. Meet the team, and the players that are ruining your season. Quarterbacks... Read More

Fantasy Football – And the Healthy Alternative

August 23rd, 2022

By the time the 2021 Fantasy Football season had ended, my team looked like a MASH unit. Cooper Kupp had helped me secure the number one seed for the playoffs, but my players were dropping like flies. Derrick Henry was rehabbing, DeAndre Hopkins was sidelined, and Lamar Jackson had to be replaced by Washington quarterback, Taylor Heincke. I lost big. But last year’s squad was like a Taco Bell Chalupa. It looked good on the surface and tasted pretty good at the time. But after the fact, all I was left with was unhealthy ingredients, pain, and regret. Instead of the Chalupa, this year’s... Read More

NFL Mock Draft – Who Does Denver Select?

April 14th, 2021

The NFL Draft is less than two weeks away and Denver has the ninth overall pick.  The off-season has been filled with the re-signing of big-name players and shoring up weaknesses with free agent acquisitions.  The Broncos could use their pick on a top linebacker, a shutdown cornerback, or depth at the offensive lineman position. And there is always that question at quarterback. A look at the 2021 NFL Draft, the predictions, and who Denver eventually decides on.   Jacksonville Jaguars – The first pick of the 2021 NFL Draft is a no-brainer. Gardner Minshew is a nice backup in the NFL, but... Read More

Drew Lock – The Phone Just Keeps Ringing

March 1st, 2021

It was a quiet Thursday evening as I sat on my couch, feet up on the coffee table.  A meaningless basketball game provided background noise as I scrolled through my phone, slowly sipping a glass of wine. The game, as usual, provided little defense and even less entertainment value, and the phone wasn’t much better.  Stories of snowstorms, friends’ postings, and the like. That’s when I came across a headline that was so hysterical, so laugh-out-loud funny, that it took everything I had not to spew my latest sip across the room as the liquid found its way out both nostrils. Teams have called... Read More

Denver’s QB Dilemma and Ten Solutions

January 12th, 2021

It started innocently enough.  Peyton Manning had just walked away from the game and Denver was contemplating who should be the heir apparent.  Trevor Siemian or Paxton Lynch? I suggested a trade for, then 35-year-old, Phillip Rivers. Before the free-agent signing of Case Keenum and the subsequential drafting of Bradley Chubb, I suggested that Denver should take quarterback Josh Allen, or possibly trade down and select Lamar Jackson. And now Drew Lock sits at the top of the depth chart with career stats of 23 TDs and 18 INTs, and a lifetime record of 8-10.  If this year’s playoffs have taught... Read More
