For many of us, Friday sunrise is a waking of weekend anticipation. Skis are waxed, camera lenses cleaned, layer laid out,

And with some fortitude and luck, we get to see a sunrise also. There have been days when I was on the slope, at the top, for “first snow.” Momma said there’d be days like this, but she did not tell me I’d be invited. It is said that the first step is the hardest. The first step is only the hardest when that step is from a generally warm tent to generally cold snow. Now THAT is a first step. But the view….    One look up at the Milky Way spread like a Tiffany Bracelet across the sky, and the cold is not so cold. The ground is not so hard. And eventually the Colorado sun will rise, bringing the warmth we were waiting for, swallowing the Milky Way and all its glow in the bright warmth and light of the sun.

May the wind be over your port bow and may your suntan oil be thick.
