Boulder Events This Week: June 16–22, 2025 – Music, Festivals, and Local Fun

Boulder is buzzing with culture, celebration, and summertime excitement. This week features an inspiring Juneteenth gathering, nationally touring musicians, and one of Boulder’s most anticipated free music festivals. Here’s your curated guide to what’s happening in town.

Monday, June 16 – Juneteenth Flag Raising & Celebration
Start the week with meaning and music at the Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony hosted at the Penfield Tate II Municipal Building. The celebration begins at 4 p.m. and includes remarks from city leaders, live music by Selasee & the FaFa Family, and free ice cream. It’s a joyful, reflective community event recognizing freedom and progress.

Wednesday, June 18 – Big Bad Voodoo Daddy at Boulder Theater
Nationally renowned swing band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy will take the stage at the Boulder Theater at 7:30 p.m. Known for their high-energy jazz, big band sound, and throwback flair, the group will be joined by Boulder’s own Guerrilla Fanfare for a night of toe-tapping fun.

Thursday through Sunday – Colorado Shakespeare Festival
Theater lovers can catch nightly performances of The Tempest, Doctor Faustus, and Richard II at CU Boulder’s Mary Rippon Outdoor Theatre and University Theatre. Now in its 67th season, the Colorado Shakespeare Festival continues to enchant locals and visitors alike with powerful performances under the open sky.

Saturday, June 21 – Flatiron Sounds Music Festival
Don’t miss the second annual Flatiron Sounds Music Festival on Saturday from 1 to 8 p.m. at Chautauqua Park. This free, all-ages event features an incredible lineup of local musicians, artisan vendors, a beer garden, and food trucks. The iconic backdrop of the Flatirons makes this one of Boulder’s best summer weekends.

Ongoing – Boulder Farmers Market
For a taste of Boulder’s best, stroll the Boulder Farmers Market on Wednesday from 3:30–7:30 p.m. or Saturday from 8 a.m.–2 p.m. on 13th Street downtown. Shop local produce, sample fresh foods, and connect with artisans and farmers.
