Boulder Sunrise Admirers: Sunrise Is To Be Seen by Pooches and Their Pals!
Do animals in Boulder and elsewhere admire scenery? Dogs? Buffaloes? Buffs? Interestingly the answer is “yes!” I can speak to dogs from personal repeated experience. Falkor was a border collie mix. She was rescued from Longmont Humane after 6 weeks or so living out in the cold in the winter as a young puppy. As a working dog she was without equal, but that’s for another blog. Today I want to chat about Falkor the Tourist.
When we went for a ride with Debi, Falkor, and me, from Boulder to Rocky Mountain National Park, Falkor spent almost the entire drive staring out the window. I would call it watching the scenery, and I’ve been accused of anthropomorphizing before! The most fun was had when we arrived at a scenic overlook. Not much is funnier than seeing you pup, front paws perched on a low rock wall. Able to see over the wall at the RMNP vista, Falkor was stay there for a while, slowly looking back and forth at the view, backpacks in place on her back. The site was so captivating that a busload of German tourists-guests spent 1/2 hour photographing our loved canine.
The scenery admiration does not rival the 45 minutes Falkor spent grooming one of our long haired rabbits to remove a rock-hard matte. Long hair rabbits form mattes if you look at them crossed.
I am confident that at least some dogs do enjoy and are interested in the scenery and the view. Big open spectacular vistas certainly got Falkor’s undivided attention. What about other animals, like our Buff Mascot Ralphie? Ralphie Surveying His/Her domain, overlooking Boulder Creek at the Flatirons.
Happy Friday!
