Do animals in Boulder and elsewhere admire scenery? Dogs? Buffaloes? Buffs? Interestingly the answer is “yes!” I can speak to dogs from personal repeated experience. Falkor was a border collie mix. She was rescued from Longmont Humane after 6 weeks or so living out in the cold in the winter as a young puppy. As a working dog she was without equal, but that’s for another blog. Debi and Falkor on the way to the Flagstaff House for a very special date adventure, Boulder style. Boulderites date with panache, class, and versatility. From car service to creek surface, we have to go into training to get ready for the date. In other places, date preparation means checking your hair, double checking your tie knot, confirming your Flagstaff House reservation, and being ready when the limo arrives. Rumored to be the smartest of the breeds, and of course right at home in Boulder, are the Border Collies. On my list of favorites dogs of all time, Falkor was a border collie mutt from the Longmont Humane Society. May she herd in peace. Her herding instincts were so strong that if any animal of any variety was in our yard, it became an instant part of Falkor’s herd and part of her responsibility.
