On September 7, 2024, Waneka Lake provided the site of the Bernie Gay XC Invitational 2024 cross country race. 4A schools, 23 of them, met on a PERFECT day for a 5K, 3.1 mile run through a local neighborhood and around Waneka Lake. The even was awesome and awe-inspiring. The sportsmanship was a beautiful thing to behold. More than a competition it presented as a group effort. All of the racers and their parents were cheering for each other. It was truly heartwarming and inspirational.

The biggest challenge for this photographer was narrowing down the 500 pictures to less than 50, and then less than 10.
