The University of Colorado Boulder has been named Colorado’s highest-ranked university in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities rankings, tying for No. 105 in the world. The ranking places CU Boulder among the planet’s leading research institutions and reinforces its reputation as one of America’s premier public universities.

Unlike the familiar U.S. News Best Colleges rankings released each fall, the Best Global Universities rankings focus primarily on research excellence. Universities are evaluated on academic reputation, publications, citations, international collaboration, and overall research impact rather than undergraduate admissions, campus life, or graduation rates. That methodology plays directly to CU Boulder’s greatest strength—world-class research.

CU Boulder led every university in Colorado by a comfortable margin. The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus ranked No. 193 globally, followed by Colorado State University at No. 347, the University of Colorado Denver at No. 447, Colorado School of Mines at No. 770, the University of Denver at No. 1,105, and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs at No. 2,019.
