September is when Summer ends and the new school year begins, which makes it a less-than-favorable time for many. But now, thanks to the Denver Public Library, we locals have something to look forward to next month: Brew Ha! Ha! is DPL’s month-long celebration of the city’s craft brewery culture. Beer, tea, and coffee lovers will all be able to enjoy a slew of events and resources, including brewing lessons, discounts at local bars and cafés, and informative lectures/discussions about some of your favorite drinks.

Here are the upcoming coffee-related happenings that I’m excited about in September:

Denver Public Library Coffee Blend

Huckleberry Roasters will be offering a special, limited edition DPL blend. You can purchase a bag at both their Sunnyside and RiNo branches.

One Coffee, Five Ways

On September 12th at 10am, the folks from Copper Door Coffee will prepare one of their coffees using five different brewing methods. This educational, Saturday morning demo takes place at the Park Hill branch, located east of City Park.

Coffee Cupping

The Eugene Field branch in Washington Park is hosting a cupping event on September 18th at 11am. Local coffee professionals will teach participants how to become more aware of varieties in flavor and how to articulate those distinctions.

Coffeeshop Discounts

Throughout the month, numerous coffeeshops around the city will be offering drink discounts for guests with Denver library cards. As a DPL member, I’ll be showing my card at these participating spots—a few of my faves—for 10% off: Amethyst, Boxcar, and Purple Door (week of September 13th only).

For a full list of participating locations and other Brew Ha! Ha! events, visit their website or head down to your nearest Denver Public Library branch for more information.
