Stress is inevitable. This is especially true for the 50% of the Boulder population who are college students dealing with exams, assignments, deadlines, and – this week – midterms. While some stress can be beneficial and motivating, too much can have negative impacts on physical and mental health. With mid-terms upon us, it can be tempting to compromise physical and mental health practices in exchange for some extra time in the library. However, research finds that students who take the time for self-care perform better on examinations, overall course grades, and physical and mental... Read More

While the holidays are an enjoyable time for many, the same cannot necessarily be said for students. This time of year, for many a student, is filled to the brim with the stress of finals. However, as finals season comes to a close, there are a variety of ways for students to become immersed in the life at CU Boulder again. For those students who may be staying around the college after finals, there are a variety of activities to participate in. A favorite place of mine on campus is the Fiske Planetarium. Fiske is so fabulous that some people who have never been to the CU Boulder campus will come... Read More

Photo Credit: Tori Bailey It’s finals week and everybody is stressed out. Luckily there are lots of things to do to help with the stress! Food For Thought (Literally)

December 3rd, 2015

The best foods for your brain during finals — It seems that studying makes us hungry – that is, hungrier than usual. Boulder is full of delicious restaurants, but which ones are best for a studying student? Heres the DL: 1) Yellow Belly – Not too expensive, and you can get a little bit of everything. Some carbs, some protein and some vegetables. A popular combination includes grilled chicken, green beans and potatoes. $5-$8 2) Chipotle – The benefits of chipotle are obvious; you can get a lot of everything, in which every ingredient is non-GMO, no antibiotic and local. Chipotle... Read More

Winding Down

April 24th, 2015

It’s hard to believe that another year at CU is coming to an end. With finals around the corner, it’d hard to see the finish line. Think about it this way: There is only one week left of classes, and let’s be real, the last week before finals is all about winding down. Before finals it’s important to find ways to calm and find at least some sort of Zen in the chaos of finals, which for students is a combination of stress, anxiety and nervousness. Around campus though, there are various ways to contrast the chaos with relaxation. Here is a list of the various ways in which students can parallel... Read More

The Art of Procrastination

December 13th, 2013

Finals week is upon us here at CU, which means that students all across campus are now utilizing their years of education and highly developed problem solving skills in order to come up with excuses to avoid studying. As a senior, I can safely say that I’ve become an expert on the subject. A black belted master in the art of putting things off, if you will. Heck, I’m even procrastinating right now by writing this blog instead of working on my English portfolio! Now, I would never recommend procrastination to any student. It’s a dark, treacherous road that can lead you to drink... Read More
