The affogato is a beautiful concoction that blends the sweet creaminess of ice cream with the robust intensity of espresso. The simplest type of affogato consists of one scoop vanilla ice cream or gelato with hot espresso poured over it, although I’ve also tried some more decadent versions too (see photo below). Boulder’s Sanitas Brewing is amping up the social distancing game by offering an ice cream truck-style beer delivery service. The company is driving around in a Sanitas logoed van with traditional ice cream truck music playing. Their method of payment, through a QR code to limit interaction, is also posted on the side of the van.
