Summer Buds

June 6th, 2017

With the abundance of new cannabis strains flooding the market every harvest, how is one supposed to choose? Weed is expensive and when you are looking at more variety than Rob Lowe had in the 80’s it is easy to feel overwhelmed that you may choose the wrong one, but seriously though, you will never pick the wrong one. It is always nice to go into a dispensary with a little familiarity though and that is what I am here to help with. Consider me your own personal research and development guy…for weed. This week I picked up some Watermelon Man and Maui Wowie. Here is my confession, lol. I smoked... Read More

Spoiler Alert, Marijuana Makes Money!

May 30th, 2017

On any average day, I would say I see more out-of-state visitors than Colorado ones. So, for the sake of this blog, I began asking customers their thoughts on how long they think it will be until they see any kind of a legalization within their own states. The response I got from most people was, “my state will be the last to legalize weed”. These are grown men and women telling me they have no hope for their state, meanwhile, everyone in line behind them is also from their home state. Why choose to be so dire about the possibilities of legalization back home, regardless of your state’s... Read More

Cannabis, in the name of freedom.

May 29th, 2017

What is Memorial Day?  No, it is NOT the official kick-off to summer, but instead a solemn day to remember fallen soldiers who took their last breath defending our freedom.  For our veterans, this ‘holiday’ is a reminder of war, uncertainty, and conflict.  However, the scars of loss and war go much deeper with a condition called PTSD.  But guess what, cannabis can help! What is PTSD? Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a condition that develops after one experiences or witnesses a traumatic event. In the US military, PTSD  affects, on average, about 15% of those who serve. In past... Read More

Shift to the Next Cannabis Gear

May 28th, 2017

With sales in 2016 topping over $1 Billion dollars for cannabis (in fact, Colorado hit that number in the first 10 months of the year), it’s no surprise that a large number of professionals are leaving corporate jobs for this new industry.  Professionals and entrepreneurs alike are seeing how lucrative this industry can be.   However, a lot of them are unfamiliar with the ins and outs of cultivation, retail setup, and even the legal aspects of working within the industry.   That’s where Shift Cannabis Co. comes in.   Shift Cannabis Co is based in Longmont, Colorado and is a consulting... Read More

Take a Trip Down Magnolia Road

May 21st, 2017

Okay, I admit it, I’ve been a little scatterbrained as of late and haven’t really written a review of a cannabis company for a few weeks.  Well fear not, I’m back with one today!   I came across this dispensary while browsing reviews on Weedmaps (one of my most used apps).   What struck me most about the reviews was not only the overall high stars but the consistent mention of quality, affordability, and great service.   These words came up again and again in the reviews, and sure there were some that didn’t paint a great picture (aren’t there always?) but with generally high praise,... Read More

The Problem with Being a Cash-Cow

May 14th, 2017

One night after a long day at work, I sat down with my IPad (and my pipe) and started watching Last Week Tonight with Jon Oliver segments on YouTube.    As is normally the case, one segment turned into two and then three and then…well you get the point.   Anyway, one of those segments featured the topic of doing business in the cannabis industry, and its main focus was on how federal law makes it rather difficult for companies in states like Colorado and Washington to do business as a “regular” or “normal” business would. The segment focused on several different things but the one... Read More

Mother’s little helper has been replaced; meet Mary Jane!

May 8th, 2017

Who wisely gives advice, exudes confidence, and suddenly loses her appetite when there is only one slice of pie? You got it, “Mom.” Raising kids is not what it used to be, but today’s Mom’s have figured out how to find balance between marriage, kids, and a career. Decades ago, mother’s little helpers usually included alcohol and pills; a deadly combination for all involved. Since then, a paradigm shift has occurred and more and more Moms turn to cannabis for stress relief.  Contrary to the nay sayers, cannabis is safer than alcohol and pharmaceuticals for Mom’s... Read More

MexiCannabis Revolution

May 5th, 2017

Photo Credit: History.com   Today in Mexico, communities host military parades to honor an improbable Mexican Army victory, under General Ignacio Zaragoza’s command, against French forces at the Battle of Puebla, May 5, 1862. While in America, Cinco de Mayo has assimilated into a party-focused holiday, celebrating (in some cases, appropriating) our country’s Mexican-American culture. However, a totally different Mexican congregation has those within the cannabis community celebrating with extra incentive this year. Just last week, with only 11 votes against and 371 votes in favor,... Read More

Chews Wisely

May 2nd, 2017

Forgive me weedfather, for I got really baked this week. It has been seven days since my last cannabis confession and since then I have smoked an ounce of weed, dabbed more than a few times, and have been sampling edibles like a tourist for the first time. I have been looking to rid myself of the my post-420 hangover. I realize it has been almost two weeks since April 20th but the annual holiday put a hurting on me and I have been out of it ever since. It is like I am stuck in a hazy fog and I cannot shake it off. I feel like so much time and energy was spent building up to that specific day that... Read More

The Shield vs. MMJ

April 29th, 2017

As 2017’s NFL Draft closes this evening, let’s take a look at the league’s policy regarding players’ cannabis consumption. Yesterday, Commissioner Goodell – welcomed by steady boos throughout the draft, every year (sparked, perhaps, by resentment toward his ~$35 Million salary, and his catering billionaire owners over player welfare and safety) – made a public statement on marijuana use, consistent with his previous rhetoric on the issue. Goodell basically maintains that the league will remain consistent with current medical research, and continue exploring potential... Read More
