Top 5 Reasons Why Locals Should Ski

December 8th, 2020

If you live in Denver, you should go skiing at least once a year—full stop. There, I’ve said it. It might be controversial, but we believe that if you live in Colorado and don’t make it to the mountains at least once every winter, you’re blowing it. Sure, there are plenty of fun activities for Denverites to do all year round that aren’t skiing, but a trip to the slopes is an important part of the experience of being a resident of The Mile High City, and it can be a fun and affordable pastime if you do it right. Here are the top 5 reasons why Denverites should hit the slopes every winter: You... Read More

October 28th, 2020

                        1.  Time First let me say that I enjoy skiing as much as the next guy, but we live in Boulder not Breckenridge.  To get up to the mountains it will take at least an hour and a half, and that’s with no traffic and dry roads.  Realistically it’s more like two to two and a half hours of driving time.  Thats four to five hours of sitting in the car round trip.  I come from a big city and I can’t stand traffic.  To me five hours of skiing is just not worth five hours of sitting in traffic.   2.... Read More

Learning to Ski When You’re Over 30

August 19th, 2018

Learning to ski as an adult can be, well, awkward. It’s embarrassing riding the lift to the intermediate slopes alongside a 5 year old who can get off and NOT fall on their face. And as we grow out of our overconfident twenties, the fear of injury becomes more prominent. So, is it worth it to take up the sport so late? I spoke with Kevin Foote, who has been a ski instructor with Vail for the last 5 years (he is off this season), about how to begin.     Take A Group Lesson  Okay, maybe you don’t want to spend the money, but think of it this way: one full day of group lessons will... Read More
