Matt is an instructor in the Technology, Arts and Media (TAM) Program at CU Boulder. His latest pursuit challenges the idea of a controller in the world of video games. This April, Matt and several of his colleagues will be hosting what he calls the “Alt-cade”, an alternative-control gaming arcade hosted in the Black Box Theater of the ATLAS Institute on CU’s campus. Ever since moving to Boulder a couple of years ago, he has loved the laid back culture and positive vibes that surround the ski and snowboard world. When Nick was hired by Deviation, a Denver based ski and snowboard company, he told me he couldn't have been happier. He became a sales rep for them and was delighted with the pleasure of representing Deviation at the 2017 SIA Snow Show. I caught Jake at a good time. Not only a momentarily good time, but a good time in life. He says he’s really happy with where he is at right now. His biggest worries at the moment are finding a part time job and keeping up with his schoolwork. On his off days he enjoys playing guitar and taking on whatever challenge life throws his way. Jake hopes his future is filled with lots of travel and new cultural experiences. One day he hopes to relearn Spanish and live in Mexico for a couple of months. Rob told me that he never took himself to be a natural athlete, but he has always loved to compete. He started playing volleyball in eighth grade when he was living in Singapore. Meet Diana. She’s a CU Buff from Westminster, Colorado. After spending five weeks at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia last summer, Diana decided she wanted to attend school somewhere close to home. The humidity alone was enough to send her back to Colorado. She told me she likes to visit home a couple of times every month so she can be with her family… and take advantage of the delicious home cooked meals of course. Diana is now studying to be a graphic designer. In fact, I caught up with her just after she’d finished designing a movie poster in class.

Nate is an avid runner here in Boulder. He is currently a junior studying astrophysics at CU. After his studies, Nate puts every ounce of his leftover energy towards progressing his passion. To him, running is more than a sport – it’s a lifestyle. Unfortunately, he recently suffered a couple of injuries skiing in Summit County. Nate left the mountain with torn ligaments in his arm and ankle that day. That’s not keeping him from training though; he still finds a way around those obstacles to keep in shape. I caught Zach during his lunch break on Pearl Street. I asked him if he could think of any time in his life that he’d want to go back to if he had the choice. He sat and thought for a moment before telling me, “I would probably want to go back to fifteen. Where I was just working a little bit, but mainly skateboarding and hanging out with friends.” He reminisced about a time when his left knee wasn’t shot.
