What’s a haunted house without a moon in clouds for atmosphere?

“The Castle Project” is a spine-chilling documentary that delves deep into the haunted history of the Patterson Inn, previously known as the Croke Patterson Mansion, located in Capitol Hill. This grandiose red sandstone mansion, constructed in 1890 by Thomas B. Croke, spans a vast 14,000 square feet of Gothic elegance, making it a prime candidate for paranormal intrigue.

The mansion’s eerie tales begin with Croke, who owned the residence for a mere two years before selling it to Thomas M. Patterson. For decades, the building’s history remained unassuming, until the 1970s when inexplicable events started to unfold. During renovation efforts, baffled construction crews repeatedly found their prior day’s work mysteriously undone. This unnerving phenomenon initially attributed to vandals escalated to a horrifying climax. To protect the site, a pair of guard dogs was stationed overnight, only to meet a grim end – both had leaped to their deaths from the third-floor window.

Despite its transformation into a modern bed and breakfast, replete with contemporary comforts, the Patterson Inn still resonates with whispers of paranormal activity. Guests may tread carefully, especially if considering a tour of the forbidding cellar, where legend has it that the spirit of a little girl lies buried deep beneath the basement floor, her restless presence lingering in the dim, shadowy corners. So, as night falls, and you nestle under the luxurious covers, you might want to keep one eye open, for the echoes of the past might just make your stay an unforgettable Halloween experience. Sleep tight… if you can.
