Freedom’s Dawn: Honoring International Abolition Day!
In Boulder there is truly beauty all around us. All we need to do is to notice it. A bird in a tree is something to see! Greet the new day and the new week as a bird might: swooping and flying while continuing to take in the world around it. We must first notice the roses before we can smell them. Mondays are especially good for opening our eyes to the universe around us. We are fortunate to be opening our eyes on such a beautiful place in the universe!

Cause for celebration? Today is International Abolition Day!!!
International Abolition Day is observed to commemorate the historical milestones in the abolition of slavery and the ongoing fight for freedom and equality. This day serves as a poignant reminder of the struggles endured by enslaved individuals and the persistent efforts of abolitionists who fought for their liberation. It honors the signing of significant legislative acts that ended slavery and celebrates the resilience and contributions of those who were enslaved. National Abolition Day also emphasizes the importance of recognizing and addressing the lingering effects of slavery, such as systemic racism and inequality. Observing this day encourages reflection, education, and advocacy for a more just and equitable society. By acknowledging the past and continuing the fight for justice, International Abolition Day inspires hope and action towards a future where freedom and equality are truly universal.
Today, Monday, June 10, 2024, there are additional holidays and observances:
