This Saturday: New Colorado Holiday to Celebrate Value of Public Lands!

May 16th, 2017

There is a great respect and appreciation for the public land here in Colorado, and the majority of Colorado voters in 2016 “opposed efforts to turn national public lands over to the state.” (Conservation Colorado 2016). With this sentiment in mind, Colorado made itself the first state to create a holiday focused on appreciating the benefits received from public land. Be one of the first to celebrate this holiday on this coming Saturday, the 20th of May, as it will be the one of the first celebrations ever of Colorado’s New Public Lands Day! Colorado’s public land holds great value and... Read More

Faces of Boulder – Pic of the Day!

February 12th, 2016

I dare you to try and keep up with this energetic 11 year old! Meet Logan! On an unseasonably warm winter day, Logan and his friends were hanging out at the skate park doing one of his favorite things…scootering! He switches between a trick scooter and BMX bike practicing jumps and moves until each one is mastered to perfection. Logan’s fearlessness was evident as he flew through the air repeatedly landing with ease each time. When he isn’t playing around on two wheels, Logan is home with his family. He lives in Lafayette with his parents and has two older brothers and an older sister... Read More

US 36 Tolls: What to Know

July 29th, 2015

As I’m sure many of you readers have noticed, US 36 has recently added toll lanes onto the highway. This article is to inform you about the new toll lanes, how to use them, and why they exist. The new express tolls lanes are part of ongoing projects which CDOT has been working on openly for a decade. Only the express lane will be tolled, all the other general-purpose lanes will be refinished and remain free to all users. The express lanes are intended for carpool vehicles, Rapid Transit busses and tolled vehicles. If you intend to use an express lane, the fees and billing are handled by... Read More

The People’s Republic of Smolder

June 21st, 2015

According to some who don’t live here, Boulder is a bastion of agreement. Rumor has it we’re progressively—or insanely—liberal, perpetually supportive of all things fitness, and not only tolerate but court ideas considered fringe elsewhere. In other words, to those outside the bubble, we’re a city of single-minded, almost amoeba-like continuity. Granted, when it comes to particular topics or causes, there is common ground. But don’t let the hype fool you. Below our seemingly homogeneous exterior, there’s roiling disagreement. Lately, this has found a place in “right-sizing,” spearheaded... Read More

December 17th, 2014

Winter in Colorado means a season of skiing, and with every coming year, ski resorts look for new ways to improve the skiing experience. In 2014, Colorado’s ski resorts have been very busy with innovation, and many mountains have introduced some really incredible features. It’s hard to get more excited about skiing, but somehow, the resorts keep making that happen. Exciting for Parents: Do you have a child who has never seen a ski mountain? Then you’re in luck! Colorado’s Aspen Skiing Company spent $5 million redesigning the base of Buttermilk, one of Aspen’s... Read More

Check Out Boulder Canyon’s New Color Pallette

October 8th, 2014

For anyone who’s been sitting under a rock, the Colorado greenery is slowly turning into reds and oranges and yellows. It’s a prime time to explore the outdoors, and with the weather being so temperate, there couldn’t be a better time to hike a few more trails before it gets too chilly. I biked up Boulder Canyon last weekend, and the beautiful colored trees made it a real treat. The Boulder Canyon trail can be accessed by traveling west on the Boulder Creek path. It goes along the highway for a short period, but then it starts following alongside a beautiful river. In fact,... Read More
