“I left my purse at the Biergarten last night, so I should probably go pick it up later today. My brother found me looking for it in front of the Municipal Building … haha. He is my little angel. At least this breakfast burrito is pretty good. There could be worse mornings, you know?” – Erin  Read More

Walnut Brewery Needs to Be on Every Beer Lover’s Bucket List

May 9th, 2017

Walnut Brewery’s Old Elk Brown Ale tastes like victory. Perhaps it’s because the English-style brown ale wins medals as often as the US Olympic gymnastics team; the beer is a two-time Silver and Gold medalist at the Great American Beer Festival awards. The brew is rich and malty, with notes of caramel and chocolate and subtle hops. The beer is as delicious as it is interesting and needs to be on ever beer snob’s bucket list. Of course, the brewery offers lots of delectable brews worth tasting. Some of my favorites? 1123 IPA  I love a good, strong IPA. This hoppy brew is tropical... Read More

Faces of Boulder – Pic of the Day!

April 13th, 2016

I walked into Absolute Vinyl in East Boulder to scope out what was new. Basil was working behind the counter and we started talking.. Basil grew up here in Boulder but ended up living in Miami for a bunch of years working at Spec’s Music. He moved back to Boulder in 1989 after coming for vacation. He says “I’m not sure why I stayed, but here I am” I liked Basil. An iconoclast to the core, he wonders what Boulder would be like without the University. He thinks the town would be more interesting. When he moved back from Miami, he wanted to get back in the music business,... Read More

Meet Brannen, Daniel, Carter, Thomas, Johnny, and Dennis (pictured left to right), the six-member band of FutureBirds. This indie rock band started their career back in 2008 out of Athens, GA and ended up playing at a local show this past Friday and Saturday night. The band is known for their unique country-rock infused sound and high energy shows; those qualities definitely showed this weekend. After the show, Carter, the guitarist/vocalist/multi-instrumentalist, shared a little about himself and the band. “I’m so happy we’re here and I’m excited to see where we’ll... Read More
