Super Bowl Odds – Can Anyone Beat the Chiefs?

December 29th, 2020

To say that the Kansas City Chiefs are the odds-on favorite to repeat as Super Bowl Champions would be an understatement.  With a record of 14-1, home field throughout the playoffs, and quarterback Pat Mahomes behind center, Las Vegas sees them as a +170 to win it all again. The +170 represents a return of $170 if you were to bet $100, or the equivalent of 1.7 to 1 odds. But if you were paying attention over the past few weeks you may have seen Mahomes look rather pedestrian in throwing three picks against the Dolphins in week 14, KC barely surviving a close one versus the Saints in week 15,... Read More

COVID Hits Fantasy Island

October 19th, 2020

It’s Saturday morning, week six of the Fantasy Football season as I grab my coffee and open up my computer.  Like most teams, I’ve been decimated by injuries as I search for a replacement for a banged-up wide receiver, a kicker lost to the bye week, and any other bargains I can find among the add/drop menu. Losing Courtland Sutton to a season-ending injury and having Dalvin Cook miss a game due to a groin pull isn’t helping things, but I’m not alone.  With injuries to players like Christian McCaffrey, Saquon Barkley, and Dak Prescott, the entire league is spending countless work hours... Read More

Ten Things We Learned Week One of the NFL

September 16th, 2020

In a sports world full of quarantines and opt outs, empty venues and cardboard cutouts, rule changes and daily testing—week one of the NFL season was bound to be a relative unknown. With exhibition games canceled and the media limited, the first week of the NFL would have to serve as a limited sample size in answering many of the questions about the teams around the league, the quarterback carousels, and the sport in general. Here are ten things we learned: The Jacksonville Jaguars are not tanking for Trevor – After shipping players like Jalen Ramsey, Leonard Fournette, and Nick Foles to... Read More

Predicting the Broncos – And You Probably Won’t Like It

September 6th, 2019

Week One @ The Raiders The Broncos supposedly fixed their quarterback, secondary, and coaching situations, but if Vic Fangio can’t get an opening season win against Oakland, it’s going to be a long year.  The young Raiders make too many young mistakes.  Broncos win 13-10. RECORD 1-0 Week Two vs The Bears The Bears have the best defense in the league and will make life impossible for Joe Flacco and our questionable offensive line.  So even if our defense is up for the challenge, we simply don’t have enough to put points on the board.  Bears win 14-3. RECORD 1-1 Week Three @ The Packers Aaron... Read More

How to Win the Office Pool – Fantasy Football 2019

August 30th, 2019

If you followed my advice last season, undoubtedly it was a stellar year. It was close to perfection as my quarterback threw for miles, the tight end lit up the scoreboard, and no-names like the Chicago Bears Tarik Cohen and the Green Bay Packers Aaron Jones surprised all. The 2018 squad predictably survived a 2-2 start as they waited for Julian Edelman to come off a four-game suspension for steroids, selected a Zach Ertz early in the draft to pay dividends, and told you that Cooper Kupp would be something special. If you took my advice, you jogged to the Championship Game along with me. It hurt... Read More

Broncos vs Raiders: It Could Be All We Need to See

August 9th, 2019

After a 6-10 season, the Denver Broncos and John Elway knew they had to make some changes. The team said goodbye to Case Keenum, the coaching staff, Bradley Roby, Matt Paradis, and others. In came an entire new coaching staff, a high-priced secondary, and a Super Bowl winning quarterback in Joe Flacco. The question is whether all the movement will lead to victories, or do the Broncos revert to the same team (with another new quarterback) that has gone 20-28 since winning the Super Bowl back in 2015? Generally, one game does not a season make. But in this case, with an opening-season matchup against... Read More

Broncos Prediction – Did You Say Playoffs?

September 4th, 2018

Whether it’s facing rookie quarterbacks, unknown entities, or a coach that hasn’t blown a whistle in nine years, here’s predicting what looks to be an unpredictable season for the Orange and Blue. Seattle Seahawks – The Seahawks (9-7) cleaned house after missing the playoffs and are replacing ten starters from last year’s squad.  No more Michael Bennett, Richard Sherman, Jimmy Graham, and All-Pro Earl Thomas is a holdout.  Russel Wilson could beat the Broncos by himself, but with banged up receivers, rookie running backs, and a hyped-up home crowd with lofty aspirations, the Broncos... Read More
