Sports in the Spring has me Sprung

April 11th, 2023

The beginning of spring brings us warm weather, Easter brunches, bottomless mimosas, and plenty of empty carbs. Spring also brings us the NBA Playoffs, The Masters, the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and a Rockies team that is not yet mathematically eliminated. Unlike the Dallas Mavericks, I was interested in the final games of the NBA season this fine spring weekend. Unlike Bryson DeChambeau, I participated in all four rounds of The Masters. Golf and the LIV Tour – They’re Scary MFers

July 26th, 2022

The concept sounds reasonable on the surface. Create an international golf league to compete with the PGA, change up the rules a little, offer more money, and poach big-name talent to help market and legitimize. Golf legend Greg Norman is the new Chief Executive Officer of the LIV Tour. It felt like a Saturday, but in the aftermath of quarantine naming days, months, or even years remained a challenge.  The gym was quiet as I reintroduced myself to the various machines, worked out for about an hour, then headed to the jacuzzi to ease a few aches. The confusion began once exiting the locker room as a high school... Read More

The Best Golf Match Ever?

May 27th, 2020

The rain continued throughout the day, but I didn’t care.  There were no outdoor hikes planned, no bike rides with poor fitting masks, and no social distance BBQs through the fencing of my backyard. For most, the combination of bad weather and the restrictions due to quarantine would make a Sunday over Memorial Day weekend feel like Ground Hog Day instead.  Another day of laundry, puzzles, and Netflix. But this day was different. On Sunday at 1pm, I curled up on my favorite chair and watched five straight hours of The Match – Champions for Charity, a live charity golf match that featured... Read More
