January 27th, 2021

Let’s face it.  In 2020, searching for a good job (in an industry that you’re interested in and that pays the bills) is almost as lonely and desperate as looking for love on Tinder!  While networking, building your skills, and having the knowledge/skills needed are always important aspects when searching for the right job, it’s also important to be looking in the right areas for the best opportunities.   In the digital age, most opportunities are buried in an overload of online sites and career search engines.  Sites like LinkedIn, Craigslist, Monster.com, and Glassdoor are great when... Read More

Good People Smoke Weed Too

August 13th, 2020

Recently we had our new Attorney General tell us that “good people don’t smoke weed”. That was an ignorant statement made by the man put in charge of this country’s legal affairs and law enforcement. Are you one of these “people”? I am! But…I am a law-abiding citizen, I pay my taxes, I am friendly with my neighbors, and I do not cut people off in traffic, intentionally. I thought I was a pretty decent guy? Half of this country has already updated their laws to legalize marijuana for medicinal or recreational purposes. According to two Gallup polls from 2016, over sixty percent of... Read More

Weed Memories Never Fade Away

August 12th, 2020

Man, you remember that one time we got high? Yeah…kinda. One of the things I really enjoy about being a budtender is hearing people’s story’s. If I am helping someone who is in the moment I like to sit back and listen. This is a main function a budtenders job, we listen. Who knows maybe there will be some good information in there? People do not so much come in to hear our stories, although they do ask, it is more about them. Hanging out in a legal weed shop is something some people have waited their entire life for, so I will not rush you out the door. Anyone who does is not a suitable budtender... Read More

Ellementa: Global Cannabis Wellness Network for women

Last week I had the wonderful opportunity to be a speaker about Fitness and Cannabis on the panel at June’s Ellementa event. Ellementa is a Global Cannabis Wellness Network for women. They host monthly gatherings in 35+ cities, bringing together women with experts and brands. The group aims to release the stigma surrounding the plant, and hopes to empower women everywhere to ask questions, learn, and educate someone. On the panel alongside me was Olympian and World Champion Joanna Zeiger, PhD. Joanna is the Founder and Coach with Train Away Chronic Pain. They believe the combination of aerobic... Read More

Where Can I Get a Cannabis Massage in Colorado?

June 14th, 2020

Cindy Sovine and her team recently submitted their application to open Utopia, which will be the nation’s first full service cannabis spa. It will be a safe space for cannabis infused yoga and massages. They also plan to carry hemp products for health and beauty, as well as offering meditation, and acupuncture services. I attended the Seven Points World Tour, in Denver, where I had the pleasure of seeing Cindy speak in person. She has a very moving story, and her passion to advocate for the health benefits of cannabis is quite apparent. Although the application was just submitted recently, I’m... Read More

Running for a reason_Ragnar Trail

In addition to our other 10 races we are running this year, my husband and I decided we wanted to build a team of 8 athletes to complete a Ragnar Trail relay. We had no idea it would be one of the best weekends ever! When I became the team captain, I was a little hesitant about coordinating a team. We needed an additional 6 runners to run a total of 14.4 miles each to total 114.4 miles and we wanted team members to be open to cannabis use and promotion. A couple other cannabis athletes we knew joined the team to support the cause. Marie Peel, co-founder of Denver’s luxury transportation service... Read More

Personal Trainers Consume Cannabis

June 12th, 2020

I am a sponsored trail runner and personal trainer and I incorporate cannabis in my daily training routine.  Specifically, I consume either flower, concentrates or edibles before hitting the gym, trails or yoga sessions.  I also apply topicals to achy joints, such as my knees and shoulders and consume hemp foods throughout the day. Cannabis is a powerful anti inflammatory, and when consumed before a training session, allows me to focus mentally. This helps me maintain longer training sessions. My husband, Antonio DeRose, also uses cannabis as a part of his daily health and fitness routine. We’ve... Read More

If you’re thinking about becoming active, there are a few things to consider to avoid injuries. If you’re already living an active lifestyle, you don’t want an injury to slow you down. Most commonly called the overuse injury, running, cycling, hiking and walking long distances can cause iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS) or IT band syndrome. Mostly affecting endurance athletes, the injury affects tissue that runs from the hip down past the knee. Usually, the injury manifests as... Read More
