High Expectations: An Introduction to The Farm
Okay, so I’ll admit this, I’ve never visited The Farm – one of Boulder’s most popular recreational dispensaries. In fact, to be super honest, I live closer to the Denver/Aurora area and since I loathe traffic, I try to shop dispensaries near me. However, if I said I had never heard of The Farm, I’d be lying as well. Some of my weed-loving friends and acquaintances rave about The Farm, so much so that it made me make it this week’s Canna-Business Review focus.
Now before we jump into what an actual visit to The Farm is like (stay tuned for an upcoming blog post) or their customer service or their products, I felt it would be cool to look at The Farm from afar at first. As this blog is highlighting local cannabis businesses and their overall contribution to the cannabis and local industries, I thought it would be cool to see how The Farm markets themselves to Boulder and the surrounding areas.
Of course my first exploration of The Farm came from browsing their website. I’m no computer wizard (hell, I’m surprised I’m able to turn my damn laptop on at times – this Windows 8(whatever) is way more complicated than it needs to be) and I definitely do not know how to build or manage a website, but as a consumer and someone who spends way too much time online, I know a good site when I see one. The Farm’s website is well structured, which helps set it apart from others in the industry. The site is full of information about the company and their products. The Farm’s website is smooth, user friendly, with useful information to help make personal buying decisions. You can even pre-order their products online to have ready for pick-up.
Now some of you may be rolling your eyes on the fact I’m reviewing a website as it is 2017, but let’s not kid ourselves a company’s website is a direct reflection of who the company is as a whole. Without naming any names, I’ve visited some pretty shitty dispensaries. Now I’m not expecting a red-carpet weed buying experience (I mean let’s not act like before legalization we all didn’t have at least one shady-corner exchange), but I also don’t want to feel I’m walking onto the set of the next Texas Chainsaw Massacre either. I’m sure all of you have had the experience of walking into at least one dispensary here that had the feeling of walking onto a horror film set. Now that I look back on that particular experience, I should’ve known first off by the look of their website. When I tried to visit the website, it was amateurish and lacking of anything really helping me in visiting it over its competitors. I thought I’d give it a shot anyway, well I learned better… Needless to say, The Farm’s website is welcoming and friendly. It automatically makes me feel that I am dealing with a company that has their business in order.
I noticed that The Farm offers an app available in the App Store and Google Play; however, I was disappointed as I tried to use it that I could not get an account created and you cannot use the app without an account. Still the fact that they have an app in the first place is a positive sign to this weed hermit (who is hoping for home deliver soon!) because it shows they are aware of the marketplace they are working in. In closing, I’m extremely optimistic about my visit to The Farm. I’m hoping my high expectations are worth the drive…
