March 18th, 2023

We’re here to help you navigate the festival like a pro and get the most bang for any buck you spend. Many of the best events are free anyway! So why should this festival be on your bucket list? We asked a few people at former FDGD events to find out: “I’m from Kansas and my buddies in Colorado said I had to cone this year. They told me about the grandpa in the Tuff shed. I thought it was hilarious and now we’re heading to the Tuff shed” — Noah “PJ and I come every year. My favorite part is the music, but the Look Alike contest is awesome too. Who doesn’t... Read More

Flashback Friday 2017 ~ 24 Years of Avery!

August 2nd, 2022

Looking for something local to do this Saturday? Celebrate the Avery Brewing Company’s 24th anniversary with some good tunes and plenty of beers. Avery Brewing has been around since it was established in 1993 by Adam Avery and his father, Larry. Their beers have pleased the mouths of locals for years, but now they have spread beyond Boulder. Just when I was living in Boston, I was introduced to what is now my go-to beer, Avery’s White Rascal. They’ve even crossed U.S. borders, selling their Boulder brews in Sweden and Japan! Clearly, there’s a lot to celebrate, so why not... Read More

June 2nd, 2022

Meet Michael! Michael was working for the Avery Brewing Company helping people choose the perfect beer.  Everyone inside and outside the tent was laughing and having a great time, it easily seemed like one of the most fun jobs around. “The hardest part of working in a festival is trying not to indulge in all the fun things that are around you. Self-restraint, I would say.”  Read More

March 18th, 2022

What on earth are we talking about today? Only the coolest festival in Colorado. Every year thousands gather in Nederland to celebrate our state’s most famous frozen grandpa with games, beer, music, and coffin races! Did we mention most events are free? A little backstory first: Back in 1993 it was discovered that Trygve Bauge and his mother Aud were storing Trygve’s grandfather with dry ice in the shed behind their unfinished house in Nederland. They wanted the body cryonically frozen in the hopes that someday grandpa would be resurrected by future technologies (nanobots, etc.). The... Read More

So lets have some fun outside before another rainy wet and cold spell hits. I’ve got a couple ideas for the weekend, although honestly my top choice is taking an afternoon nap under a tree after a long work week. Take a Fall Hike: Head to Ned, or the mountains, or now really any park you wish. The weather is perfect and all across Boulder the trees have at least some leaves turned golden. Remember layers and of course hello it’s... Read More
