Faces of Boulder ~ Pic of the Day ~ Derek & Molly!

December 30th, 2022

This dynamic couple moved to the Boulder area ten years ago after meeting in Seattle and tying the knot. After meeting in college, these two realized that they loved sharing outdoor adventures together and for them, that created an unbreakable bond. After their wedding, they decided they were ready for some new adventures, so they said goodbye to Seattle and hello to Boulder. “Nothing can beat the Colorado Rockies,” says Molly, “we see ourselves here for quite some time.” You can see their smiles and happiness radiating all the way down the trail. It was a pleasure meeting... Read More

Chautauqua After Snowfall

December 28th, 2022

There is something about a hike through snow covered trees that leaves you with a sense of calm. The snow absorbs all sound and animals are quiet, snuggled away in their hollows. You can only hear the crunch of snow underfoot and all feels still. Snow really is like a blanket, covering up the world to let it rest. Since the snow melts so quickly here, it is a special experience to stroll snowy paths around Boulder.  Even magical, some might say. For Boulderites, Chautauqua is a special place year around that many visit often, for some even daily. I find the park extra majestic with its frosting;... Read More

Outdoor Adventure of the Week: Historic Eldora

October 6th, 2022

When you hear people talk about Eldora here in Boulder County nearly everyone’s mind goes to the same place: Eldora Ski Resort. But have you ever been to the Historic town of Eldora just below the popular ski resort? Admittedly, there isn’t a whole lot to be found here as many of the town buildings are shuttered with a few newer cabins and homes scattered around the valley, but if you are up for a snowshoe adventure this is the spot for you. A one-time gold mining camp, Eldora is neatly tucked back into Roosevelt National Forest. It was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic... Read More

Faces of Boulder – Pic of the Day ~ Lydia & her Dog Jack!

February 3rd, 2022

Almost every day, rain (or snow) or shine, Lydia takes her dog, Jack, to Chautauqua Park for some outside play time. Living only a short drive from the park, she has great access to all of the trails and wide open space that the park has to offer. Lydia grew up around Boulder area. She moved to Oregon for a few years for a previous job, but missed the Colorado mountains too much. But after those few quick years, she moved right back to the area, bought a quaint home in North Boulder where she now lives with her husband, her dog, Jack, and her cat. Lydia spends a lot of time outside hiking,... Read More

Outdoor Adventure of the Week: Caribou Ranch

September 16th, 2021

There are few things as inspiring as a bluebird winter day here in Colorado, perfect for getting out and exploring, and that is exactly what I found when I arrived at Caribou Ranch Open Space earlier this week. Rich with history, this area is home to the former route of the Denver, Boulder and Western Railroad that ran from 1904 to 1919 and a place that miners once flocked to for work. You might even spot the DeLonde Barn on your way around the Bluebird Loop trail, which was once home to a recording studio that attracted many of the musical greats including Elton John, Rod Stewart, and Chicago. Caribou... Read More

Faces of Boulder – Pic of the Day!

September 24th, 2020

Nick is in love with the ski and snowboard industry. Ever since moving to Boulder a couple of years ago, he has loved the laid back culture and positive vibes that surround the ski and snowboard world. When Nick was hired by Deviation, a Denver based ski and snowboard company, he told me he couldn’t have been happier. He became a sales rep for them and was delighted with the pleasure of representing Deviation at the 2017 SIA Snow Show. Nick obviously showed a passion for the sport and a bond with those who practice it. He was more than happy to tell me all about Deviation’s missions... Read More

April 19th, 2020

Mountain lions and other wild animals have been making appearances throughout the country as there has been less human activity due to coronavirus limitations. This has especially been seen in Boulder, where mountain lions have been trekking into people’s backyards. This week, two lions were caught on camera in the snow near the center of the city. Wildlife officials have said it’s not clear yet whether the sightings have been because of a lack of humans of if this is still a normal amount for Boulder. Officials note that since people are at home with little to do, it’s likely... Read More
