Charles Robert Redford Jr. is an American actor and director who was born on August 18, 1936. He has won numerous honors, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Cecil B. DeMille Award, two Golden Globe Awards, the British Academy Film Award, and an Academy Award from four nominations. He was listed among the top 100 important people in the world by Time magazine in 2014.

The Los Angeles-born Redford spent one year studying at CU-Boulder before becoming well-known. In 1955, he was employed as a janitor at The Sink on University Hill during this time. Later, two of his children, David “Jamie” Redford (Engl’85) and Shauna Redford Schlosser (Art’85), followed in his footsteps by enrolling in CU-Boulder.
