Looking to relax? Get out in nature? Get some delicious fresh-caught fish for your table? If you’re fairly new to fishing or usually drive a long way to get your fix, I’ve got some good news: you can find great fishing spots right here in Boulder County!

1. Wonderland Lake

Depth: 13ft at max depth
Species: Largemouth Bass, Crappie, Bluegill, Yellow Perch, Carp, Bullhead
Location: Trailhead off of Broadway and Sumac
Boats and Wading prohibited

2. Viele Lake

Depth: 15 feet at max depth
Species: Yellow Perch, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Crappie, Carp, Pumpkinseed Sunfish, Channel Catfish, Bullhead Catfish
Location: West of Highway 93/South Broadway
Nonmotorized Boats Only

3. Lagerman Reservoir

Size: 115 Acres
Species: Channel Catfish, Crappie, Bluegill, Tiger Muskie, Walleye, Largemouth Bass, Carp
Location: North 75th Street and Clover Basin Drive
Belly Boats, nonmotorized boats, and motorized boats with a max of 7hp permitted. No wake allowed.

4. Walden Ponds

Size: 6 Lakes, 6-30 Acres
Depth: 6-12 feet at max depth
Species: Largemouth Bass, Crappie, Bluegill, Carp, Bullhead, Channel Catfish
Location: North 75th Street off of Jay Road
Boating prohibited, open dawn till dusk. Individual ponds have special regulations, so see the Boulder County Open Space website for more information.

Remember to always be alert for other fishers to avoid accidents. Valid fishing licenses are required to fish in Colorado. Please follow the rules, pack out your trash, and leave the lakes better than you found them.
