As January comes to a close, we look to February for excitement, but what does the beginning of this month have in store?  The more important question may even be: what’s in store that’s worth my time?  The answer to that question may have been difficult to answer before, but with this list of coming events, the answer’s never been more clear. Here’s the top events to kick off February.

  1. The Nile Project is a group that combines the traditions of 11 countries along the path of Africa’s Nile River basin.  This colorful and thumping mix of music is meant to break all language barriers and create a sense of harmony through their music.  The message of their music also serves to raise awareness about the Nile River ecosystem.  The group will be at Macky auditorium on February 2nd only, playing from 7:30-8:00pm.  Tickets range from $20-90 and is open to everyone.
  2. It’s hard to get away from football this time of year, so why not fully embrace the super bowl spirit at the Boulder Theater.  Starting at 4, they will be showing the game live in their auditorium on the big screen.  What better way to experience the big game than on a giant screen in an auditorium full of fellow fans?  It’s the next best thing to actually being there.  What makes this event even better is the price tag of $0.  That’s right, tickets are completely free, so bring some friends and enjoy the game!
  3. For the more artistic people who want an event that is more hands on, POSHsplat is hosting a great fundraiser event on Saturday the 4th from 2-4pm.  This event is to raise money for CU’s Alumni Association, which is a great cause to support.  For that $35 ticket price, each participant will have instruction and guidance given by a local artist to create their very own piece of art.  It doesn’t matter if you have years of experience or it’s your first time.  Everything is provided, and you get to take home a personal piece of art!
Jesse graduated from CU Boulder in 2014 with an English degree in Creative Writing. He has been writing independently ever since a high school teacher inspired him with a simple assignment to write whatever he wanted after struggling to follow a writing prompt. Since then, Jesse has been writing every day and continues to work on getting his writing published. It was that one spark that sent Jesse on a path not just toward pursuing his own writing, but to go into education in the hopes of awakening a similar passion in others. To keep his creative juices flowing, and keep a healthy balance, he also enjoys exercise of almost every kind and keeping a healthy diet. In his free time he enjoys seeking out new and interesting stories of all kinds, watching foreign media, and sometimes just relaxing and looking out the window for a while. Since coming to Boulder at the age of 3, Jesse has found no shortage of inspiration here.
