Your bud tender will be knowledgeable and happy to share that knowledge. BUT can they share answers or information about anything related to marijuana that you might ask? Most certainly NOT! Here’s a guide to what to NOT ask about so that you and your bud tender can remain on the best of terms. Illegal Activity: Discussing illegal activities, including but not limited to, the resale or redistribution of cannabis products purchased in Bud Tender conversations... Read More

The Stoned Munchies: Fabulous Food With Solid Science!

January 26th, 2024

Have you ever wondered whether cannabis actually makes Boulderites hungry? Is there any “real” science to support the “stoned munchies?” As we have always known, the answer is a resounding “YES!” Diet control as to timing, choices, and quantities are key to good health and to feeling good. And the latest science confirms that in fact smoking cannabis does trigger the stoned munchies. I believe  that oil made from whole flower is a dramatic appetite stimulant, while smoking or vaping, which I avoid in any event, has less of an appetite stimulus impact. That is... Read More

Delta-8 THC AND ME. For Me Or Not For Me…That Is The Question!

January 21st, 2024

Is Delta-8 THC ok for Boulderites to consume? Here are 5 reasons for saying “sure, fire up,” and 5 reasons to say “not today thank you.” The chemistry of Delta-8 THC compared to the well-known Delta-9 THC is a fantastic topic! For another day. For today, know that both are cannabinoids, since they occur naturally in the cannabis plant, and while Delta-9 THC is present in significant and commercially useful amounts, Delta-8 is not. It is a trace cannabinoid in the plant. BUT it can be readily made from hemp-derived CBD. Remember that “THC” is “tetrahydrocannabinol,”... Read More

Confessions Of A Boulder Budtender

January 15th, 2024

The question I hear most at my job is something along the lines of, “I mean, do you really like your job?” And, it usually comes from a woman between 60 and 80 years old who is wearing bedazzled jeans and refuses to even smell the flower we have on display. After I was asked this several times, I took a moment to really think about my truthful answer. I work over 40 hours a week, with little to no breaks throughout my day. I deal with complaints about ridiculous things and at least once a weeks someone calls me a b*%$# for not accepting their drivers license with void punched into it.... Read More

Fentanyl in Boulder: Great Confusion, LOW prices make for DANGER!

January 6th, 2024
don't give up. You are not alone, you matter signage on metal fence

Is Fentanyl a Boulder Danger or is it another government scare tactic? Is Fentanyl Really Dangerous? In short, yes it is.  It is dangerous for several reasons.  First, simplest, it is highly toxic in minuscule amounts. That means that to “dose”it, lab work must be extremely precise to avoid accidental overdose. Additionally, when a dealer “cuts” the drug, or uses it to cut heroin, it is not even a trained lab technician doing the lab work. It could be kitchen table science.  While commercial organic  chemistry labs with trained chemists and pure ingredients can synthesize a... Read More

Success is EASY! Just Work Hard! It’s been 10 years since Boulder and Colorado launched the first legal recreational marijuana market in the world and became a pioneer in drug reform. Ten years ago, 2015,     Colorado experienced its first legal marijuana sales. As always, Colorado was a nationwide leader. Now, after well over a decade of work by activists, civilians, legislators, medical people, laboratory experts, marketing experts,  and the rest of us, we have marijuana sales recreationaly and medically. We have a lab-tested safe source of marijuana, absent mold, pesticides, and other... Read More

Boulder’s Marijuana Mega-Brains!

January 2nd, 2024

Can I fail a pot test after smoking?  After NOT smoking? Even in Boulder ??? Every blog addressing great words is especially fun in Boulder! We’re SMART. We have GREAT vocabularies, And we have an unquenchable desire for knowledge.  For many of us, that means learning more about our favorite drug, marijuana.  While not for everyone, it is certainly the drug of choice for some. and Boulder has long been pot-centric in many ways. Just as “shared knowledge is power,” we simply must know as much as possible about chemistry we introduce into our bodies.  That means for some... Read More

From Boulder and I Do Not Smoke Weed

December 30th, 2023

I’m a long time lover of the Devil’s Lettuce, and all of its 105+ cannabinoids. I am however not a fan of the 100+ chemicals which combustion adds to to cannabis. Meaning I do not like smoking. Cannabis yes. Combustion no. I am not a fan of edibles, since they typically have one or both of two cannabinoids; THC and CBD. What about the other 103+ cannabinoids? To fit the market I suspect, most flower seems to have high THC and zero CBD. Selfishly personally I prefer flower with all of the cannabinoids present. For the enhancement of the “unpleasant side effects” I... Read More

Confessions of a Boulder Budtender – Cannabis Capital

November 16th, 2023

Do you want to be a better budtender? Then go to Amsterdam (the the world reopens and they welcome Americans again). Working in the industry in America with knowledge of the old world is priceless and it can be a good way to reconnect with cannabis if you are a long-time budtender. After a time, so much weed goes through your hands that it can start to become just another commodity. It is easy to get in a rut, and it is easy to forget how much you love this plant when you find yourself cranking it out daily at work. Visiting the city can provide a memorable and immersive learning experience that... Read More
