Fido Friday For ALL DOGS!

January 19th, 2024

It should come as no surprise to any Boulderite that Boulder Canines are huge LADY BUFF fans! And while we will be gracious hosts as would be expected of Boulder, UCLA will leave town having lost to the Lady Buffs. They’ll leave with their tails between their legs, like lost abandoned dogs. No disparagement to the pups intended <G> Speaking of lost dogs, one of the greatest places to find a new family member already waiting for you is at the Humane Society. These adoptable pups are not “second-class” in any sense of the word. They come in all sizes and colors and breeds,... Read More

August 7th, 2020

Amy Long is no stranger to adversary – actually her life has been overcoming one challenge after another to be in the place she is today, a successful entrepreneur, business owner, and Boulder community member. Amy developed her resilience and work ethic from her parents, who owned and operated the popular local restaurant Tsing Tao Asian Cuisine in the south part of Boulder for 22 years. Growing up in the restaurant and hospitality industry was a ‘school of hard knocks,’ where she developed the skills and knowledge for building businesses from the ground up. After years of building small... Read More

This Week’s Boulder Benefactor: Scott Walker – A Boulder Force for Good

May 28th, 2020

Giving back to a community doesn’t get any more direct than through charity work. It is the hopeful lifeblood, the generous driver of public strength, unity and happiness. Within Boulder there are more amazing charities than you can keep track of, and this week’s Boulder Benefactor has had a hand in many of them. Scott Walker is a Boulder native, the son of a CU professor, and community/charity organizer extraordinaire.  He has been on the board of the Boulder History Museum, served as both chair and co-chair of the Boulder Humane Society, and is currently involved with Boulder’s... Read More

Featured Charity- Friendship Bridge, Lakewood Colorado

June 29th, 2018

In Guatemala a 36-year guerrilla war which formally ended in 1996 and ongoing drug cartel and gang violence has left over 200,000 people dead and created an estimated 1 million refugees in Guatemala. The country struggles with poverty, infant, child, and maternal mortality, malnutrition, proper sanitation, and contraceptive awareness and use. The female literacy rate is surprisingly only 76%. More than half of the population is below the national poverty line, and 23% of the population lives in extreme poverty. Poverty among indigenous groups, which make up more than 40% of the population, averages... Read More

Cannabis Miles for Charity

March 3rd, 2018

With 11 races scheduled this year, including an 8 person Ragnar Relay over 2 days, the MJFITNUT Team will be logging in some serious miles. Each one of those miles spent training and competing will be fueled by cannabis. Does this mean cannabis flower and concentrates, or edibles and topicals? All of the above. Does it also mean hemp seeds, hemp protein powders, and other hemp food products? You bet it does. These routines are that of a cannabis athlete, and the miles cannabis athletes put in could be called cannabis miles. MJFITNUT has committed to donate their cannabis miles to charity, and you... Read More

Fighting ALS with Murder and Mystery

October 14th, 2017

I first started learning about cannabis having neuroprotective properties after witnessing my wife have a seizure. Having never witnessed a seizure before, and not knowing how long it would last, or what to do after, it was a frightening experience. As terrifying as it may have been, it was the catalyst which began our research into the medicinal properties of cannabinoids. What I’ve learned since then has been remarkable. The cannabis plant has the potential to help several conditions, and improve the quality of life for those who have been diagnosed with lifelong illnesses, but not all diseases... Read More

Wildflower preschool: Tots for Tots, with the Help of Tots! — Boulder Gives

September 3rd, 2015

Children are freakin’ adorable (especially if they aren’t yours). A child with a toy ups the cuteness factor 200%. Child with a toy that is donating that toy, I think my heart is literally melting into a sappy love puddle. Child, with toy for donation, that is donating that toy to another child….you would have to be made of stone not to cry, vomit and then see the impending coming of world peace. Sound too good to be true? Wildflower Pre-School has made that vision of glory a reality. To get to the bottom of all this cuteness, I spoke with Amy Harmon, the Owner and Director... Read More
