Ski Season Is On Its Way, Three Big Reasons You Should Continue Biking This Winter

October 28th, 2020

                        1.  Time First let me say that I enjoy skiing as much as the next guy, but we live in Boulder not Breckenridge.  To get up to the mountains it will take at least an hour and a half, and that’s with no traffic and dry roads.  Realistically it’s more like two to two and a half hours of driving time.  Thats four to five hours of sitting in the car round trip.  I come from a big city and I can’t stand traffic.  To me five hours of skiing is just not worth five hours of sitting in traffic.   2.... Read More

Faces of Boulder – Pic of the Day!

September 24th, 2020

Nick is in love with the ski and snowboard industry. Ever since moving to Boulder a couple of years ago, he has loved the laid back culture and positive vibes that surround the ski and snowboard world. When Nick was hired by Deviation, a Denver based ski and snowboard company, he told me he couldn’t have been happier. He became a sales rep for them and was delighted with the pleasure of representing Deviation at the 2017 SIA Snow Show. Nick obviously showed a passion for the sport and a bond with those who practice it. He was more than happy to tell me all about Deviation’s missions... Read More

The Courage to Question

July 17th, 2020

I have a confession. I haven’t been completely honest with you lately. I spent my last blog explicating a story about some guy in camo pants that would, quite literally, run into me in the singles line of my favorite chairlift. A guy that would inevitably save me from the digital dead zone of online dating. A guy who, at first take, would appear to be completely random, until we’d both divulge the calculated decisions we had made to get us into that same lift line on that same mountain on that very same day, and none of it would seem so random after all. As much I want to chalk this up to fantasy... Read More

Please Swipe Responsibly

If you think dating is hard, try dating in a ski town. Population 4,896. The tourist game is so strong in Breckenridge that I can confidently proclaim that I’ve matched with more Texans in Colorado than I ever matched with Texans while actually living in Texas. For those of you unfamiliar with app dating, I’ll provide a crash course. Bumble gives the woman 24 hours to communicate with the man after a match is made (i.e. two mutual swipe rights). The man then has 24 hours to respond. Each user is given a daily extension, which will open the communication channel for an extra 24 hours. Once a... Read More

Faces of Boulder – Pic of the Day!

January 25th, 2016

Sabina visited Boulder for a long weekend, escaping the brutal snow storm on the East Coast. Born in Bosnia, she moved to Hartford, Connecticut, in 2000 with her family. She then moved to Baltimore, Maryland to attend college and decided to stay to start her career. Growing restless, she decided to take a long weekend to see the mountains of Colorado and visit some friends. Immediately, she was blown away by the natural beauty of the area and the amount of places to see and experience. Her favorite thing about Boulder is “the freedom, the fresh air, and the overwhelming desire to explore.”... Read More

Where to Ski This Weekend

November 12th, 2015

Well with Wednesday’s snow, Colorado sure is feeling the winter magic now. Around Boulder grocery clerks and friendly folks keep saying “stay warm.” Toes across the Front Range shiver in wool socks and boots. And leaves? They are pretty much all gone. But this all means that ski and snowboard season is upon us! Several resorts are already open and the others will be opening very soon. Here’s where you can check out the powder this weekend. Check out the links to the resorts’ websites for more information about specific lifts and runs. Open Now Arapahoe Basin–... Read More

Boulder Ski Shop Gives Back

November 8th, 2015

Crystal Ski shop has been serving Boulder and its surrounding communities for almost 40 years.  Independent, family owned and operated, and dedicated to upstanding service, Crystal represents the gold standard in the Boulder business community.  Current owner and ski tech extraordinaire, Justin Burger says Crystal ski shop helped him develop his own love of skiing; renting his very first pairs of skis at the tender age of just two years old!  Before purchasing the business in 2009, Justin actually worked as a rental tech at Crystal through his years as a CU business student starting back in... Read More

4 Ways to Prep for Winter Adventures on Rainy Days

October 22nd, 2015

This rain is kind of a bummer. Well honestly for all of us east coast transplants its a bit of nostalgia filled relief from the glaring sun. I like these cold rainy days even if they keep us from the sunshiney adventures were accustomed to – but of course I can only take it for a few days. So what do we do in Boulder on a rainy day? I mean all the amazing breweries are still open despite the rain (and the distilleries, the meadery, and all those bars) so there’s always that. However, I propose doing those things you “save for a rainy day” to prepare for your winter adventures.... Read More
