Boulder’s Sunrise Serenades; A Tapestry of Buffs and Other Colors!

Sunrises in Boulder are like sunsets in many other places. They can surpass even our wonderful sunsets. One must get up early and stay up late.

Boulder‘s less good news. Washington State beat the Lady Buffs in the last game of this season. We say “good bye for now and THANKS! to Buckshot, #00, Ms Sherrod, making zero the biggest number in the list of numerals! The casino’s roulette edge is our edge too. We wish her our best and our thanks for being so amazing. She totally outdid herself this afternoon, seemingly flying through the thin mountain air over the boards. In spite of her having done a face plant on Thursday night against Washington University, she was with us 110% this afternoon. Debi and I turned to each other a number of times, smiling, remarking “did you just see that?” and the answer was, every time, “YES!” I admit that we looked at each other a number of times saying “good shot” about a shot that Washington had just sailed through the net without disturbing the knotted thin rope called a net. From the 3 point range. Begrudging admiration was certainly called for!

While the scoreboard was against us, the game was AMAZING! Both teams were spectacular. It took a great team to beat our Lady Buffs! The Washington State defense was outstanding! We were in great seats surrounded by people dressed in red. We were surrounded by guests rooting for the wrong team! At the end of the game I high-fived the “Mr Red Guy” in front of me and said “great game!” He was surprised, grinned, and the woman (wife?) next to him leaned over to a youngster and commented on how nice that was, that I’d congratulate them on a game well-won. We are the hosts! Of course we are the best at being hosts! We are gracious, welcoming, and sometimes we even lose on the scoreboard. Whether or not we win, we ALWAYS have the opportunity to be welcoming hosts. Gracious losing is probably harder than gracious winning, and is even more important. We come away with a “win” regardless of the scoring details. BUT WE ALMOST HAD IT WON!!! I certainly don’t mind being a gracious winner.

Enjoy Sunday! We’ll focus on motivating for Monday as we go through the day and as we read my early morning motivational magic on Monday morning. In the meantime, we could not be more proud of our Lady Buffs! They represented us wonderfully both today and through the rest of the season. They’ll be back soon.
