February always moves quick, so it’s important to make sure and keep up with the events going on before the month is over.  If you haven’t already gone out and checked out something new and exciting this month, let these three suggestions be your guide.

  1. The renowned Sculptor Kevin Box will be presenting his work at SmithKlein Gallery on February 14th from 2-6pm.  Kevin Box begins his work with a single sheet of paper, a clean slate in his eyes, and works to bring out the potential of that clean slate in each precise fold he makes.  Despite their paper like appearance, the final products are cast in various metals, such as bronze and steel, in a process that took many years of work to get just right.  Each piece of Kevin’s work can take anywhere between 12 weeks and 6 months to be fully complete. They truly unique pieces of art well worth seeing in person.
  2. What is going by the name Friday Flicks at The Mine! Is a weekly event hosted at Color me mine.  On February 17th they invite all to come down from 6-10pm to work on paintings before, and possibly during, the showing of the film for that week.  This week will feature ‘The Last Time I Saw Paris’, popcorn provided free of charge, and no studio fee after 6 if you make an individual purchase of $10 or more.
  3. Boulder’s own vocal rock band Face is performing at Nevin Platt Middle school on February 17th starting at 6:30.  Face is an all vocal rock band that has received international recognition.  Four singers and one vocal drummer create an amazing rock experience like nothing else around.  General admission tickets are starting at $15, but a VIP experience is also available for $25.  This would include meeting the band, taking pictures, getting autographs, and even hear a song performed in private.  You also get first choice of seats for the show!
Jesse graduated from CU Boulder in 2014 with an English degree in Creative Writing. He has been writing independently ever since a high school teacher inspired him with a simple assignment to write whatever he wanted after struggling to follow a writing prompt. Since then, Jesse has been writing every day and continues to work on getting his writing published. It was that one spark that sent Jesse on a path not just toward pursuing his own writing, but to go into education in the hopes of awakening a similar passion in others. To keep his creative juices flowing, and keep a healthy balance, he also enjoys exercise of almost every kind and keeping a healthy diet. In his free time he enjoys seeking out new and interesting stories of all kinds, watching foreign media, and sometimes just relaxing and looking out the window for a while. Since coming to Boulder at the age of 3, Jesse has found no shortage of inspiration here.
