event_209715312Imagine a workout that increases your sense of freedom, self expression, sensuality, intention, magic and community. That is the power of ecstatic dance!

Boulder has long been a mecca for the conscious dance community, and thanks to Free Motion Community Dance Center on Pearl Street (behind Snarf’s) there are now opportunities for open ecstatic dance nearly every day of the week.

Tonight (9/30/15) Free Motion is hosting their third “Dance-Form Yourself” event  this month, an offering that has evolved through many community partnerships including a Meetup group of over 250 dancers, and a budding new partnership with the Starwater Collective.

Part of this practice is setting a theme for the dance, and tonight’s theme is to:

Dance into your higher frequencies of relating, relationships, the pure lightness of Love and living!”

The DJ will be Free Motion’s Musical Director and local musical genius Rob Treaphort who plays deep jungle house. (Listen to Treaphort at https://soundcloud.com/treaphort)

Lisa’s vision is for Free Motion to become a community hub helping introduce and support people to access the transformational power of dance.

10632784_10100265363506533_5744667076544770095_nFree Motion is an intimate venue, offering a safe space for people at all levels of experience to explore their unique expression through movement and dance. The Center is also designed with a collective format, so movement teachers and event producers are encouraged to bring their offerings  for regular or one-off events.

Free Motion is the first week-long hub for “Open Dance” practices in Boulder, and possibly anywhere in the world. In contrast to choreography, Open Dance allows the dancer to use movement as a practice for unique self expression and discovery. One of the key philosophies of this style of dance is “You cannot do it wrong”.

I have personally experienced how this approach to dance can facilitate personal breakthroughs and a deepening in connection to self and community .

I encourage anyone wanting a taste for embodied freedom to check it out at Free Motion or other local venues offering conscious dance practices including:
