Trivia, Music, Art and Black Holes: Weekend Event Guide for 01/07/2016-01/10/2016

The weekend is near, and Boulder wants you to come out and play.

Moe’s Original BBQ will have their inaugural Geeks Who Drink at 7:00 pm on Thursday January 7th. See how much useless knowledge you have retained over the years in a test of your trivial mettle. Moe’s will be having this event every Thursday night.

For a delightful show in a unique setting head over to the Goorin Hat shop. The Robin Lewis Band will be performing on Friday, January 8 at 5:00 pm. Goorin Hat Shop is located off 943 Pearl Street. Listen to the melodic crooning and dreamy string accompaniment with the twang of a banjo, and maybe even get a wonderful new hat while you are there.

Bluegrass musician Danny Shafer, is taking to the stage Friday, January 8 at Upslope Brewing Company. This free show will also be featuring food trucks by Heirloom and Rollin Bones Bbq. Enjoy some music, food and beer.

The Fox Theater with be having The Expendables grace their stage on Friday, January 8, at 9:00 pm for the band’s Winter Blackout Tour. They will be performing with P-nuckle and Al Capones. Tickets range from $17.00 pre-sale to $20.00 at the door.

The Forge is having a show on the 8th as well, featuring local bands. BANDITS, Shark Fin Soup, The Velveteers and Bourgeois Girl. Doors are at 6:30 pm. The show is free, but donations are suggested. Help fund the local scene. Local shows are a huge part of what makes Boulder great, and keeps local music alive.
The Lazy Dog will be bending more toward the electronic/psycadellic/experimental rock sound. Friday at 10pm, the live electronic trio, the The Malah is playing for free. It should make for a very fun show.

The Fiske Planetarium is playing Black Holes: The Other Side of Infinity on Saturday, January 9 at 9:00 pm. Learn about these mysterious and fascinating objects. There will be additional dates if you can’t make this showing. Tickets are $10.

Boulder Fastframe will be featuring will be Mark Ivins’ photography. This exhibit shows the talents of the Longmont based photographer and has free admission on January 10th.

Also on Sunday, The Malia Llama are playing at 10pm at The Mountain Sun Pub. This free performance should make for a great close to a nice weekend.
