Julia has lived in Boulder for the past three years. When she first moved here, she rented a two bedroom, two bath apartment with all utilities and pet rent included for $750 a month. Now, she lives in a one bedroom apartment with her roommate for $650 a month, no utilities included. She sleeps on the couch. “I think the weed is to blame.” Well everyone thinks that. “No, no. Not just people that want to smoke. People come out here and learn how to grow, learn the rules and regulations, then they launch grow sites in other states.” Julia is also a journalism major and wants to get an MFA in either journalism or creative writing. Naropa is her goal because “I’m too much of a hippie to go to Denver.”

Photography isn’t just about capturing a moment; it’s about capturing personality and a story. After graduating from University of Denver with a criminology degree, Stephanie Tyson wasn’t a hundred percent sure what she wanted to do. A summer spent photographing the zipline at the Colorado Adventure Center in Idaho Springs, decided her passion for photography can’t be ignored for the “practical” approach of a life in the office. Born and raised in Colorado, she is no stranger to the beauty that this state has, both in landscape and in people. Her heart lies with the ocean, and when she gets the chance, you can find her sitting on the shore line shooting surfers all day. During the summer, there’s a good chance she’s exploring or hanging out on the fence line at a rodeo with her camera. All other times, you can find her in Starbucks, curled up with her cat, or at the archery range.
