Faces of Boulder – Pic of the Day!

July 20th, 2023

“For me, the connection between nature and beer was very natural. I’m a mountain biker, skier, camper… and my business plan spoke to that. We produce and sell craft beer for outdoor enthusiasts and [a can] is the best was to take a beer with you while enjoying nature; it’s compact, can be crushed after use, and recycled. And from the beginning, we have tried to be sustainable—we are FSC certified, we have a high efficiency boiler, and buy wind turbine credits to be 100% wind powered… [The environment] isn’t better off with business, but it is our duty to be responsible.” Matt... Read More

FLASHBACK: From Boulder High Music Teacher to Award Winning Beer Entrepreneur

June 21st, 2023

Inspiration can connect the most far-fetched or opposite ideas and come from the most unlikely of places. To give it further jolt, necessity is indeed the mother of invention. Put the two together and see what curious results give light. So, let’s play a little trivia. What do Boulder High School and beer brewing have in common? No, I’m not talking about teenage alcoholism so cross that snarky answer off the list. What they do both have in common are some interesting ties through both historical and modern day Boulder in a unique way: Crystal Springs Brewing Company. Some people search their... Read More

Getting Set for BolderBoulder

May 20th, 2023

There’s a reason that every year, over 50,000 people flock to Boulder, Colorado to run 6.2 miles. It might have something to do with the fact that Boulder is an awesome city or maybe some folks enjoy a bit of fitness every once in a while… But mostly I think it’s because they know that the BolderBoulder 10k is the most fun you’ll have while running all year long! To some of you reading, 6.2 sounds like a daunting number. Others might find the prospect of running non-stop uphills and around bends totally boring; but trust me–it’s not as intimidating as it sounds and it’s... Read More

An Island on the Hill – Boulders Tulagi Bar

May 11th, 2023

Through a combination of nostalgia and legend, some pieces of Boulder never fully disappear. Maybe the best example was an ordinary building in the middle of the Hill known as Tulagi. On walking inside, you were hit with the smell of decades of beer being poured, consumed, and spilled. Past the Tiki-ish foyer, you were deposited into the venue, with an open dance floor as simple as the stage at its head. On either side were raised sitting areas with built-in benches and stacked-stone walls, under-lit to give the feel of a cavern-come-club. Surrounding was a mural with various scenes—all sun-drenched... Read More

Flashback: Brewing Beer?? – So that’s what your physics professors have been up to

April 22nd, 2023

When patrons enter Boulder Beer Company, there is a hushed air of anticipation. Any bar really, seem to possess this strange, otherworldly quality, where this magical space—for a few hours at least—provides a jovial interlude for relaxation and good times, where people can forget their worries for a little while and indulge in a beer amongst friends and coworkers. Boulder Beer Co seems the pinnacle of such locations, with its good vibe atmosphere and surprisingly interesting (& eccentric) history behind it. Being a college town with hard-working students looking to blow off a little steam,... Read More

Faces of Boulder – Pic of the Day!

April 14th, 2023

Lyle moved to Boulder three months ago for the outdoors and the weather! He graduated from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. He visited friends in Boulder often before moving here and fell in love with the mountains. His favorite activity is to “run and also get lost on hikes in the woods.” He’s still figuring things out in Boulder, but his best advice is to “always pack a beer on hikes.”  Read More

We’re here to help you navigate the festival like a pro and get the most bang for any buck you spend. Many of the best events are free anyway! So why should this festival be on your bucket list? We asked a few people at former FDGD events to find out: “I’m from Kansas and my buddies in Colorado said I had to cone this year. They told me about the grandpa in the Tuff shed. I thought it was hilarious and now we’re heading to the Tuff shed” — Noah “PJ and I come every year. My favorite part is the music, but the Look Alike contest is awesome too. Who doesn’t... Read More

Flashback 2015: Finkel and Garf: A Guide to Boulder’s Own Whimsical Brewery

December 27th, 2022
Finkel and Garf, Gunbarrel Colorado

I’ll be the first one to say it: and this is tough, coming from a self-proclaimed beer junkie. Sometimes, craft brew lovers, we take ourselves a wee bit too seriously. It’s not a problem, mind you. But have you ever been drinking a beer with a friend, only to be so caught up in predicting the grain bill, the hops used, the clarity of the water used, the astrological sign the beer was brewed under… that you forget why you’re actually there in the first place? At the end of the day, shouldn’t enjoying a beer really be about where you are, and who you are with? We don’t... Read More
