West Flanders Brewing Company : A Truly Intercontinental Tale

September 9th, 2021
West Flanders Brewing Company Boulder

At this point, I realize it’s rather passé, but I just have to talk about this month’s unusual weather one more time. Notably, the daily gloomy forecasts remind me very vividly of my time spent in the city of Amsterdam. As a young and impressionable collegian, I can’t imagine a better crash course in beer culture. Every day would greet us with thick fog, the occasional drizzle, only to be replaced with an onslaught of rain and grumpy attitudes. So, along with some of the other Americans on my study abroad semester, decided to seek out Amsterdam’s best bar for beer. While... Read More

No Name Bar: It’s as Inconspicuous as it Sounds

July 1st, 2021

Tucked away in a small complex on the Hill, sandwiched between Dot’s Diner and Cosmo’s Pizza, lies is a hidden gem. The No Name Bar, connected to Cosmo’s Pizza is a hip, speakeasy-esque bar. Its entrance, a large, elegant wooden door, stands alone in a dark corner beneath a set of outdoor stairs. At first glance, it appears to lead nowhere—it lacks the typical outdoor lighting that announces a restaurant or bar’s presence. And, most peculiarly, it lacks a sign. Their business card matchbooks that line the bar neither have any contact information nor any name, marked with a simple ‘C’... Read More

Feelin’ Fine, Springtime, Twisted Pine (Rhyming is Hard)

August 2nd, 2020
Twisted Pine Brewing Co Boulder

To be fair, the “rhyme” in the title of this post is indeed a slant rhyme, which totally counts. What are you, the rhyming police? Does such an organization exist? If they do, I want to humbly thank them for their service in smugly correcting poets all across this land. Anyway, welcome to this week’s editorial in which Max drinks a few beers, and tells other Boulderites what he thinks of them. On tap this week? Twisted Pine Brewing Company, a major-league brewery in the middle of Boulder, Colorado. Before I get started in today’s beer experience, I want to tell all you... Read More

Cheerful & Beer-Full at the Bohemian Biergarten

June 27th, 2020

Sunday’s can sometimes be a bit of a drag – a day to sleep in, run errands, and dread work the next morning. Therefore, when it comes to finding something fun on a Sunday night, the struggle is real. On Sunday nights the majority of Boulder is a quiet community nestled in the foot of the Flatirons. Little do we know, the Bohemian Biergarten is booming every Sunday night with their gut-busting Comedy Show. That’s right, the Bohemian Biergarten is turning those lazy days into Sunday Funday. The laughs come at a $5 entrance fee, and begin Sunday at 7pm, and continue for a 2nd show at 9:15pm.... Read More

9 Restaurant Patios That Let You Enjoy the Sunshine in Boulder

June 25th, 2020

With May almost over, the summer sun is becoming a little more friendly as summer in Boulder, Colorado sets in. Why not enjoy it at one of the many lovely patios that Boulder’s restaurants feature? Here is the short list of our favorite patios to dine and drink on. The Corner  – Right on the corner of 13th and College Avenue is the well-known The Corner cafe. Students can be found here studying in between classes, catching a break with one of their drinks from the bar, or enjoying the sunshine. It is common you will see a dog (or five) leashed up along this patio, their owners enjoying... Read More

Left Hand Knows Nitro

June 6th, 2020

Anyone out there wondering what makes a nitro, a nitro? You are? Alright, well let me give you a little lesson with the help of the Left Hand Brewery. It’s no secret that Left Hand Brewing Co. is Number 1 when it comes to nitros, so I made my way up to Longmont to learn from the best. They sure did teach me a thing or two about these bodacious beers, and of course I had to test a few to grasp the full experience. After talking to a few employees, I came up with a quick guide to nitros: Basically, a regular beer uses 100% carbon dioxide during the carbonation process, while nitros do not.... Read More

POSTing Up in Boulder

June 6th, 2020

Have you guys tried the Post Brewing Company’s location in Boulder? I have! And, it’s now one of my favorite hangouts in town. Hot Chicken Loves Cold Beer, what more is needed to entice you?! The poultry and pilsners are calling your name! I was lucky enough to heed that beckoning, and make the Grand Opening on Thursday, November 2nd. The place was bumping, filled with boisterous people ready for a brew. An unbelievable atmosphere with unbelievable employees. Lead brewmaster, Nick Tedeschi, and head chef, Brett Smith, make a mean duo. Their combo of pipin’ hot chicken and quality... Read More

Get Strong and Flexible While Drinking Beer

June 3rd, 2020

Being such a healthy, active city, Boulder is one of those places that makes you want to get out there and try new activities. For me, the most recent addition to my fitness routine has been pilates. I’ve been on the mat doing yoga for a few years now but pilates is a whole other beast, focusing more on intense workouts for the core rather than the overall strength and flexibility associated with yoga. You know what makes an intense core workout all the more bearable? Rolling off the mat and immediately getting a fresh pint of Sanitas beer. That’s right. Sanitas has added craft pilates at the... Read More

April 14th, 2020

Wild Heaven Beer in Georgia gave Dr. Fauci, the doctor giving key coronavirus information to the nation, his own beer. The beer is called Fauci Spring, and the pale ale is made with acai so it’s good for your health (get it?). A companion lager was also released with the name Don’t Stand So Close to Me. Wild Heaven is hoping to get the brews out and into stores soon.  Read More

Boulder’s Sanitas Brewing Delivers Beer Ice Cream Truck-Style [VIDEO]

April 9th, 2020

Boulder’s Sanitas Brewing is amping up the social distancing game by offering an ice cream truck-style beer delivery service. The company is driving around in a Sanitas logoed van with traditional ice cream truck music playing. Their method of payment, through a QR code to limit interaction, is also posted on the side of the van. The driver is wearing gloves and a mask and distributes the beer with those claws you had as a kid.  Read More
