A Few of Boulder’s Ghostly Residents

July 8th, 2022

In the spirit of Halloween we are going to detail a few of the haunted places around Boulder. If you dread the macabre, or a haunting close to home is too much for you, there is still time to turn back. At 646 Pearl Street you’ll find the beautiful Arnett-Fullen house. The house was built in 1877 by Willamette Arnett, heir to Anthony Arnett, one of Boulder Land and Trust Company’s founders. Many admire the fusion of architectural styles the house displays. It incorporates Gothic, Victorian, and farmhouse aesthetics. It may also hold a few souls in its walls. Willamette Arnett burned... Read More

Monday Motivation: Trick or Treat Motivation

October 29th, 2018

Hi Everyone, Happy Monday!  This coming Wednesday is one of the best opportunities of the year to witness some of the highest levels of motivation and determination. The goal?  CANDY! I am a firm believer that there is so much we can learn from children and by adopting a childlike mindset.   For this week’s motivation I am going to borrow lessons that we can all learn from kids as it applies to the adventure of trick or treating. I cannot help but think of the sheer determination millions of children across the US put into action on Halloween.   I don’t know about you, but I certainly... Read More

The Night HE Came Back! – A Review on the 11th Installment of Halloween

October 28th, 2018

“I met him, 15 years ago. I was told there was nothing left; no reason, no conscience, no understanding in even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, of good or evil, right or wrong. I met this…six-year-old child with this blank, pale, emotionless face, and…the blackest eyes — the Devil’s eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach him, and then another seven trying to keep him locked up, because I realized that what was living behind that boy’s eyes was purely and simply…evil.” John Carpenter and Debra Hill wrote those words for the screenplay of 1978’s Halloween.... Read More

Things to do this Fall Season!

October 21st, 2016

Photo Credit: Tori Bailey It’s finally fall! Even though it’s been almost a constant 70 degrees everyday, the fall weather will set in soon. Fall is my favorite season because it means that the holidays are just around the corner. I also love the changing of the leaves on the trees, especially living in Colorado, we don’t know how good we have it. This season comes with a whole different set of activities that are fun for everyone. Some activities that are popular to do include football games, going to see the leaves change, apple picking, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and hay rides. Not... Read More

Halloween Nightlife For 10/29-11/01

October 29th, 2015

All Hallows Eve draws near, and the city is alive with all manner of celebration. As darkness drapes over the sky earlier and earlier, the nightlights guide the way toward fun and frivolity during the Halloween weekend. Though house parties will be prevalent, if you desire some other entertainment there are a lot of options for the holiday. For a fun spout of drinks and dancing this Thursday night, ladies drink free at the Absinthe House from 9pm to close. There is a rooftop patio that overlooks the beautiful downtown to dance under the starlight or observe the costumes coming out to play. Also... Read More

How To Stay Safe This Halloweekend

October 29th, 2015

Safety first, Buffs! 1.Always have a buddy. Never leave a party alone or let your friends leave without you. If you want to stay and others want to leave, make sure you have at least one friend with you. Halloween means parties on top of parties – lots going on. It’s easy to get lost, so having a buddy is a must. 2.Don’t take any vitamins. The Hill will be explosive with parties, parties and more parties this weekend. Resist the urge to take things that people give you (other than wrapped candy, that is) because you never truly know a strangers intentions. 3.If you can’t... Read More

Ancestral Power and Halloween’s Origins

October 27th, 2015

This article explores the roots of Halloween, and how reverence for ancestors is a missing piece in modern culture that can catalyze huge transformation when you focus on it. Ancient Roots Halloween is the midpoint between the fall equinox and the winter solstice, thus one of the ceremonial times of many pagan traditions. In Gaelic tradition, this holiday was originally called “Samhain” (pronounced “sah-win”) beginning at sunset on October 31 and going until sunset on November 1. Pagans believed that this was one of the times of the year when the “veil” between the living and the... Read More

Embrace your Inner Witch – I dare you!

October 31st, 2014

It’s Halloween, and there are witches everywhere. Hundreds of women around town in their pointy hats and striped socks. That’s a lot of witchiness. What does it all mean? What does the word witch mean to us? Does the idea of witch send an inexplicable chill down your spine? Is she scary? Does she mean harm? Will she hurt us? Is she ugly? Should we kill her? Today, I’m suggesting making friends with the witch in you.  That’s right, we all know her. If we take away the fear for a moment, we can take a look at the true nature of the witch, who is in fact, a lover not... Read More

Halloween: Have Fun but Stay Safe!

October 29th, 2014
Halloween in Boulder Colorado

It’s finally here students, the weekend that is arguably the most dynamic out of the entire school year! Time to pretend you’re someone you desperately want to be or a celeb who you’d love to bash on. I was a “beaten up biebs” last year. I despise Bieber and thought it would be funny, unfortunately nobody understood. So, my first piece of advice is don’t overthink the costume idea and don’t offend diehard fans, they’re passionate!!!   My second piece of advice, which should be the first considering how important it is, BE SAFE. We all know how rowdy Boulder gets... Read More
