Halloween Concerts!

October 24th, 2014

Halloween is always a fun time to dress up, pull pranks on one another, and eat more candy than you most likely would any other time of the year (well, maybe Christmas is in the running, too). While that is all fun and good for most people, some of us (like myself) are often in search of shows to go to on this most Hallowed Eve, which luckily for most people falls a week from tonight. There are a number of Halloween-themed concerts out there, and then some that appear to just be coincidence that they take place next Friday. Here is a short preview of the shows that may be your best bet for dressing... Read More

5 Trends in Halloween Make-Up

October 18th, 2014

Okay, so apparently my threshold for horror is pretty low. Too many rounds of googling “Halloween make-up” has left me disturbed by what lengths people go to for this holiday. The “make-up” wares these Halloween stores are peddling look like a who’s who of a South Bronx Emergency Room — gunshot wound, gunshot wound, stabbing scar, gunshot wound. Why would I want to look as though my face has been blown off? Who needs hypothetical catastrophic injuries to freak themselves out?Frankly, to deliver myself a scare, I can just sleep in my night-on-the-town eye make-up, wake up, FORGO COFFEE,... Read More

October 17th, 2014

Winter fever starts to kick in around mid to late October. I’m talking about changing your attire from shorts to leggings, the decision to sip on hot chocolate instead of iced tea, and of course, lazing around in bed instead of enjoying the sunshine that Boulder has to offer. And besides, let’s weigh the odds: watching reruns of The Office or picking apples on a beautiful fall day, what would you rather be doing? There are so many activities that coincide with this season that you just need to be apart of. Apple Orchards Tired of the pumpkin spice latte craze? Looking for a different... Read More

Haunted House in Boulder Serves as Fundraiser for Local Girl Fighting Cancer

October 23rd, 2013

At the age of nine, a tumor was found in Kayla Armstrong’s brain, and she was diagnosed with cancer. She spent over 300 days in the hospital, undergoing chemotherapy, radiation treatment, a bone-marrow transplant, and many other arduous treatments and surgeries before finally emerging 18 months later with signs of great progress. She returned to the hospital for MRI scans for a period of two years before doctors could finally declare her cancer free. Her father, Mike Armstrong, described Kayla as being positive throughout the entire strenuous process and praised her for maintaining the “best... Read More
