Boulder Mystery Beast Or A VERY large Coyote?

March 6th, 2024

Spindly-legged, Reddish-Brown Classic Coyote That’s not what our Boulder visitors looked like. Not at all. Our Backyard Beast!. Coyote-Wolf-Dog Hybrids Are Out There!     pic Lenny Lensworth Frieling Taller than a backyard table, and 50 pounds of what? BIG Coyote? I saw this unusual canid in the backyard, where a fox carcass was decomposing. The carcass was down to bones and a little hair. That’s until it vanished.   Fox In Stu in the Backyard                                pic Lenny Lensworth Frieling Did our mystery monster make the decomposed... Read More

Faces of Boulder: EARTH MAN & The Boulder Creek

February 8th, 2024

Everyone who lives or has visited Boulder knows that street performers populate the Pearl Street Mall on a daily basis putting on shows for Boulderite audiences and those who are passing by, but there is one real-life super hero street performer in Boulder who advocates for environmental awareness and enlightens those who pass by him that we are always all together on the same team no matter where we come from. That team is Team Earth and that super hero is none other than the famous face of Boulder: EARTH MAN! This AboutBoulder post features several images and information about EARTH MAN and others... Read More

Saturday Sunrise Spectacle

January 20th, 2024

Another EARLY Sunrise! While I love the colors of Boulder sunrise, I do find that it seems to occur at a rather inconvenient hour every day! If sunrise were at noon, for example, I could have coffee and two meals before stepping out the back door to snap a few of another glorious sunrise. I suppose that adjusting the tilt of the earth on it’s rotational axis is out of the question, even in the land of astronauts and the rest of the University of Colorado brain trust. I trust their brains enough to not try to change the tilt of the earth. They’d probably notice. SO, I’ll stick... Read More

Sundown in BuffLand

January 11th, 2024

As the Boulder sun sets behind the front range, casting a reddish light over the Valley, even writers and photographers sometimes take a break.   Pics outdoors in the winter do bring memories of summer shooting! Again our great fortune as residents of the Boulder Valley is evident. Time to walk off the hill, recharge the camera batteries, copy pictures to hard drives and to get rested and ready for another glorious day in the best place on earth.  Read More

Coffee & Cats: An Istanbul Photo Diary

July 15th, 2015

A look through my iPhone photos from my recent visit to Istanbul provides a narrow glimpse into my trip. A few touristy snapshots of ancient monuments and various places of worship reveal the city’s historical and geographical peculiarities—as the gateway between Europe and the Middle East—but say little about my personal time spent there. On my phone’s camera you won’t find any visual keepsakes from the paternal family reunion that was the purpose of the trip. My Dad and other relatives wanted me in front of the cameras and in the center of all the shots so I obliged them. They had come... Read More
