Whether blazing his own trail or following someone else’s, Dakota is always moving forward. He frequently partakes in trail runs and 14er expeditions, hoping to combine the two this upcoming summer. Dakota’s passion for the outdoors reaches all facets of his life, though. Spearheading a plan to install a community garden/ learning landscape, he will be the first person to implement such am environment on CU Boulder’s East Campus. Although he was born and raised in the Midwest, Boulder and the mountains are home to this outdoor enthusiast. Thanks Dakota!  Read More

Faces of Boulder – Pic of the Day – Jeff

October 16th, 2022

Jeff’s favorite smoothie is filled with every kind of berry he can find in his kitchen. His most recent smoothie included strawberries, bananas, blueberries, raspberries, kale, spinach, chia seeds, and peanut butter. As a recent transplant from Minnesota, this dude is passionate about getting out there and talking to everybody we meet on the trail…for at least 10 minutes. We chatted to this one guy who is hiking the TMB (Trail du Mont Blanc) next month and another guy who flies glider planes in Colombia. Jeff can be seen hiking or running at Chautauqua or even climbing up the flatirons.  Read More

Faces of Boulder – Pic of the Day!

July 1st, 2021

I met Mike outside Boulder Bikesmith as he was trying to fit his mountain bike into his SUV. A common site in Boulder! Originally from New Mexico, Mike and his wife moved here from San Diego in 1997. “We came out for a job opportunity, went up Flagstaff, took a look over the the front range and that was all she wrote. We never went to the beach in San Diego, we were always more oriented towards the mountains, so this was a perfect fit.”  He was a runner, qualifying for the Boston Marathon. Mike didn’t run it because he got more interested in trail running. Another reason to... Read More

Boulder, CO: Witness the Fitness

February 1st, 2021

If there’s one thing that residents of Boulder do well, it’s keep in shape! Boulder has regularly been ranked by Gallup and Healthways as the fittest metropolitan region in the United States, with just 12.4% of its residents considered overweight. Gallup and Healthways have been measuring obesity rates across the country since 2008 through the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, which surveys Americans’ self-reported height and weight to measure their Body Mass Index. In five of those six years, Boulder has taken the number one position for fitness (let’s just call 2009 a “cheat year”). On... Read More

Triathletes are weird, we know.

July 30th, 2020

“Click, clack, click, clack”.. You are standing in line at Amante Coffee and you peer behind and expect to see a horse, or maybe a girl in high heels. Actually maybe it is a tap dancer. You first look down  and notice glossy white shoes, high socks, and the most muscular legs you have ever seen on a chick. As you continue to gaze up you soon realize that this hairless girl is actually a transvestite! The perfectly smooth legs had you thinking one way, but the tight spandex shorts quickly revealed the other! You continue to scan upward and soon realize that this transvestite is actually... Read More

Endurance Conspiracy, because Endurance Athletes Do Have a Sense of Humor

July 26th, 2020

Endurance sports are rigorous and demanding, which means athletes are always focused, serious, and mostly boring. “We are purveyors of fun.” -Endurance Conspiracy False. Behind tough and blister-ridden exteriors, endurance athletes like triathletes, cyclists and long distance runners all seem to share a similar light-heartedness and love for their lifestyles. The ability to find joy in the hard work required from these sports makes the endurance sport community closer, faster and stronger. Endurance Conspiracy, an endurance-sport-apparel-retailer in Boulder, manufactures hilarious,... Read More

Wake and Wellness

July 7th, 2020

For me, the morning is the most important part of my day. I like to wake up early, around 5:00 or 6:00, to enjoy the sunrise and peacefulness the morning has to offer. This time sets my mind and body for the rest of the day, so I try to make it as productive and beneficial to get it started on good vibes. However, I wake up daily to one of my cats crawling all over me and meowing in my face until I get out of bed. He really likes his snacks and to be let outside on the deck to watch the birds. I then start the coffee and consume cannabis. I suffer from idiopathic epilepsy with grand mal seizures,... Read More
