The Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests, as well as minor portions of Rocky Mountain National Park’s southern section, are part of the Indian Peaks Wilderness, which is managed jointly by the US Forest Service and the National Park Service in north central Colorado. To the south, it is bordered by the James Peak Wilderness, and it spans the Continental Divide. Because of its proximity to the Denver metropolitan region, the area sees a lot of visitors.
