The Sanitas Valley Trail winds its way up the large valley between Mount Sanitas and Dakota Ridge. Except for a few of brief portions destroyed by the 2013 flooding, the smooth, wide gravel trail is easy to navigate. The famed Boulder Flatirons can be seen from the south. The exposed, sunlit route is lined by fields of wildflowers. A seat at the trail’s summit provides panoramic views of Boulder and beyond.

At practically any time of day, you’ll see off-leash dogs, excited kids, power walkers, and trail runners striving to beat their personal best. Fortunately, this trail is wide enough to accommodate all users.
