Faces of Boulder – Pic of the Day!

January 23rd, 2016

Meet Ella, Paul and Clara! On the most amazing sunny Colorado day, I met Paul as he pushed two of his four kids on the swings at one of Boulder County’s beautiful parks. As are most of the residents here, Paul was super friendly and chatted openly as he played with his sweet girls. Paul and his wife moved from Oregon 18 years ago after college and have since made a home and are raising their family in Lafayette where they homeschool their children ages six, seven, ten and thirteen. They love the community here and enjoy visiting the museums, hiking and sledding together as a family. Paul works... Read More

Some people have the gift of putting everybody around them at ease and Z, with his easy drawl and friendly smile, is most definitely one of those people. Z is a self proclaimed “open book” and the conversation flowed effortlessly outside a coffee shop in small-town Lafayette on a crisp, clear, sunshiny day. Originally from Oklahoma, Z moved to Boulder County 10 years ago. As a kid, he spent time in Colorado each year on vacation and the draw of our great state eventually led he and his wife back here to make a home. They currently live in Lafayette where Z opened Curating the Cool a few years... Read More

The looming monotony of a 9-5 job behind a desk wasn’t the life these three, born and bred, Colorado adventurers aspired to live. In their senior year at Golden’s School of Mines, a simple idea to find where they belong sparked what is now fueling not only their company, but their lifestyle and livelihood. Meet Ben, Mark and Shamus! Manning their Belong Designs sponsor booth at the Prairie Dog Half Marathon on a foggy Louisville morning, these guys were nice enough to chat for a few minutes! There was evident enthusiasm for their apparel company and mission that was positively infectious.... Read More

This is Dave but the neighborhood kids refer to the friendly local as “D.L.” It was by pure accident that this Baltimore, MD native landed here 11 years ago as he was aiming for Estes Park; however, Dave quickly fell in love with our town and Boulder became his home. An Electrician by trade, he opened his own business here with ease and has thrived surrounded by such a supportive community. When Dave isn’t working or volunteering his electrical skills at a local children’s museum, you can find him enjoying our abundant, eclectic music scene with friends or photographing the endless... Read More

Meet Michael! Amidst the scent of sawdust and lacquer, this former Floridian works on a custom piece of furniture which is how he makes his living these days. When he’s not woodworking, Michael spends his time enjoying all that Boulder has to offer from our restaurants to the endless outdoor activities. He is an avid snowboarder, artist and musician, at one time playing lead guitar in his own band. In his spare time, one of Michael’s favorite ways to kick back is visiting the local breweries to sample the bountiful craft beers that Boulder has to offer. When asked what he loves most about... Read More

On an unusually grey day, I stopped into one of Boulder County’s abundant and fantastic coffee houses and was immediately warmed by Jessica’s friendly smile. We chatted across the counter and I learned that she moved to the area from California 10 years ago with her family. Jessica’s love for Boulder is evident as she genuinely describes how friendly everyone is and how previously working on Pearl Street led her to meet so many fun and interesting people, “Everyone is just easy to talk to, people here are so friendly!” Its apparent in her demeanor that Jessica loves her job and aspires... Read More
