The Best Study Spots for Finals

December 2nd, 2016

Finals are almost here, we only have two and a half more weeks until the end of the semester. Where did the time go?? These last two weeks are definitely the most stressful time of the semester because professors love to squeeze in a few more assignments to add to the stress of final tests, papers and projects. Especially the professors that think the world revolves around their class… (it doesn’t). The Norlin Library will be getting very crowded because that seems to be the favorite spot to study. However, there are tons of other places you can go to get some peace and quiet while studying! Humanities... Read More

Winter is Coming!

November 19th, 2016

Photo Credit: Lily Lemire It finally snowed! It’s already mid November and Thursday was the first snow fall we’ve had of the year here in Boulder. For a while there, I was starting to get concerned that global warming was at fault and it was never going to snow, but here it is! Being prepared for Colorado weather is tricky sometimes. On Wednesday it was sunny and close to 80 degrees and on Thursday we woke up to a blizzard. I have a friend who had to walk in the snow with just Teva sandals on because, like everyone else, she had no idea we were going to get this much snow so quickly. What... Read More

Lead with Love

November 11th, 2016

This week has been really rough for a lot of people. Actually rough doesn’t quite cut it, this week was more along the lines of heartbreaking, devastating, or even catastrophic. Trump is our new president and there is a lot of uproar about it because it is the outcome that majority of Americans thought would never happen. Up until Tuesday, it was still considered a joke that Trump might win, except now the joke is on us. This might be the biggest mistake that the United States has ever made. This week, as Americans, we let fear win. On Wednesday there was a group of freshman from Boulder High... Read More

Trumpland

November 5th, 2016

Photo Credit: Anthony D’Alessandro This past Tuesday I went and saw the movie Trumpland by Michael Moore, which was played by CU’s International Film Series in Muenzinger auditorium. It’s a film that was very educational that I suggest everyone see before this election is over. What was really cool about this screening is that when it ended, we had a Q & A with Michael Moore who skyped in, and let me just say, for those who don’t know who he is, he is someone to be listened to. This movie can be rented on iTunes, Amazon, and I believe YouTube. Some of the facts that were in the... Read More

Go Vote!

October 28th, 2016

Photo Credit: Lily Lemire People, I cannot stress enough to you how important it is to vote for our next president. Though the two leading candidates have been causing a lot of controversy, confusion, and doubt for our country thus far, abstaining from voting is NOT the answer. Those who are not voting think that it doesn’t matter because they don’t care who wins the election, therefore their vote won’t make a difference. Your vote will absolutely make a difference, please believe that. Voting is not only a right but it is a privilege…a privilege people! We have to wait eighteen years... Read More

Things to do this Fall Season!

October 21st, 2016

Photo Credit: Tori Bailey It’s finally fall! Even though it’s been almost a constant 70 degrees everyday, the fall weather will set in soon. Fall is my favorite season because it means that the holidays are just around the corner. I also love the changing of the leaves on the trees, especially living in Colorado, we don’t know how good we have it. This season comes with a whole different set of activities that are fun for everyone. Some activities that are popular to do include football games, going to see the leaves change, apple picking, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and hay rides. Not... Read More

Commotion on Campus

October 7th, 2016

Photo credit: UniversityParent.com This past Wednesday, a couple of unfortunate events took place. The first was waking up to an Amber Alert text message saying there was a man with a machete on campus and to act accordingly. I was still in bed so it didn’t really spark a reaction in me. Later, news came that the police had him under control. Again, no reaction from me because I had just assumed the situation would be taken care of. When you aren’t close to the situation at hand, you don’t really question your safety. It turns out that the police had shot and killed the man because... Read More

Parents Weekend Activities!

September 30th, 2016

Photo credit: Lily Lemire This weekend is parents weekend and there are SO many things to do with parents, especially if they are from out of town. CU, of course, has a list of activities for parents to do but doing your own fun planned activities is how you can get the most out of parent’s weekend. Some things to consider doing: There are tons of good restaurants on pearl street to check out, my personal favorite is Hapa Sushi, they have great happy hour deals from 2-5! Also be sure to check out the Sink, which is located on the Hill. Get the sink burger, it does not disappoint. If parents... Read More

20 Minutes of Action

September 23rd, 2016

Yesterday I attended an event on my campus called 20 Minutes of Action. This was in response to the comment that Brock Turner’s father had made about his son’s 6-month sentence in prison being a steep price for “20 minutes of action.” For those who are not familiar with Brock Turner’s case, he was a student athlete at Stanford who had raped an unconscious girl and basically got off scot free. The event on campus was supposed to represent standing up against campus sexual assault and campus violence. It was held in front of the UMC on the lawn and an estimate of about eighty people showed... Read More

Sober Sally

September 17th, 2016

Last night I went out to the bars sober. It doesn’t sound like a big deal, but have you ever actually been around drunk people for hours on end while being stone cold sober? It’s a lot harder than it sounds. A couple days ago I decided it would be a good idea to go on a ten day cleanse. I am currently on my 7th day. Up to day 4 it was a struggle, but now that I’ve broken through the wall, these next three days are going to be a breeze. I went out with two of my best friends on Thursday night thinking that it would be totally fine if I wasn’t drunk because I’ve been sober around them... Read More
