Coffee Matters: Agriculture of the Bean

June 3rd, 2023

As I’ve previously mentioned, coffee “beans” (seeds or pits) grow in moderate climates across the world on what’s referred to as the coffee belt. Coffee trees, which are actually more like tall bushes, are pruned short though they can grow to be over 25 feet tall. They are covered with waxy dark green leaves and blossoming fruit—of green, red, and yellow color—known as cherries, which grow along its branches. The beans or seeds are picked from inside the fruit once it’s ripened. While there are many different species of coffee plants, the two species that are commercially cultivated... Read More

Flower Essences – Bringing back our connection to Nature

May 12th, 2023

Herbs, flowers and trees have all been used for healing for thousands of years. It was an English physician, Dr. Edward Bach, who developed a range of remedies made with the healing energies of flowering plants and trees in the 1930’s. His collection of 38 remedies have been used widely since then, and his technique for preparing them has been used by others to create essences from many other flowers. Bach was committed to creating a simple system of healing that anyone could learn to incorporate into their lives for everyday healing. They do not treat physical illness directly, but by restoring... Read More

Treating ITBS with Cannabis

June 12th, 2020

If you’re thinking about becoming active, there are a few things to consider to avoid injuries. If you’re already living an active lifestyle, you don’t want an injury to slow you down. However, many athletes who participate in activities where the knee is bent repeatedly experience a common injury. Most commonly called the overuse injury, running, cycling, hiking and walking long distances can cause iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS) or IT band syndrome. Mostly affecting endurance athletes, the injury affects tissue that runs from the hip down past the knee. Usually, the injury manifests as... Read More

Hemp Houses for Health – 5 Reasons Why Hemp Houses are the Way to Go

May 2nd, 2020

The average person spends 95% of their life indoors. This is the first time in history that individuals have been so disconnected from the planet and confined inside our schools, workplaces and homes. The buildings we spend our time in are often full of toxins such as pesticides, molds and several other harmful fumes from furniture, paint and carpet adhesives. With many taking their overall health and wellness into consideration, using a healthier building material, such as hempcrete, may be a perfect solution. Hempcrete is a building material made from industrial hemp fibers mixed with lime. It... Read More

Epilepsy Awareness Month

November 3rd, 2018

As many of you know, I have epilepsy.  Last month I celebrated being 18 months seizure free! I started having grand mal seizures when I was a teenager. I had several tests, but the doctors could not find out what was causing them. The medical professionals told me I could have multiple seizures every day for the rest of my life or never have another one again and there was no way to tell what my future held. This is one of the reasons I try to live each day to the fullest and not let my condition stop me from doing things I want to do in life.  Knowing that I am one of 65 million people affected... Read More

Is Your Body Made of Hemp?

October 27th, 2018

Did you know, every ten years your body has generated brand new bones? According to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, “After the body’s skeleton forms and grows to its adult size, it completely regenerates itself about every 10 years, through a process called remodeling.” Ok, so that makes sense, but how can your body be made of hemp? The answer is proteins. I’ve mentioned in previous articles about the several nutritional benefits of hemp foods, and how I personally choose hemp protein as my go to protein supplement. Since proteins are what the human body is built from,... Read More

In April of this year we spoke about the benefits of hemp for athletes at the Terpenes and Testing Magazine World Conference, in San Jose, CA.
